I checked this as one of my interests because I have made candles for many years and enjoy coming up with new ways to make candles using things I have on hand. I would like to hear about how others make candles using inexpensive molds and materials if anyone is still interested in discussing this.

I used to make candles decades ago but it got too expensive. You could only buy the wax from "craft" stores which really inflated their prices. In this country, people buy a lot of candles for religious purposes so I might look into it again. Any ideas on cheaper wax would be appreciated.

Personally I re-used wax from old candles, mine and any of my friends who would save them for me. Like you, I could never justify the cost of buying wax; the candles would wind up costing as much as if I had bought them pre-made. But by remelting old candles, I saved money and got some really interesting colors and fragrances!

I want to share you this idea, I have a friend who made it quite well financially by supplying candles to the mall, actually the candle was not the secret but the containers or holders, he made them from cutting common used bottles, he told me that he learned to cut and stain glass from a German priest who taught him the technique when he was a young altar boy. I think it's the same technique they use since the middle ages to stain glass of church windows, they were so beautiful that you would not think they were your common bottles that you throw away. He's story stops there, don't think he wants to teach me he's trade secrets, hope you got a good idea, good luck.
