I love to take photos of just about anything, so I was so excited when a friend took me to a local park, right in the heart of the city to feed some wild possums, so cute these little fellas, has anyone else like taking photos of our animal friends...

Taking photos of animals (wild or domestic), is one of my favourite pastimes. I have tons of photos of my dogs but I love going out at dawn when the kangaroos are grazing before it gets too hot, and taking shots of them. I live in Australia and we have a lot of bush around us where they live.

We have a lot of wild life that makes itself known around here. The first thing I noticed was the skunks. Of course I smelled them before I saw them. They apparently like to try to beat the cars across the road. Most of the time they lose. What I really enjoy seeing is the deer. We live in a small town with a lot of woodlands in and around it. I recently found out it is illegal to shoot a deer inside the city limits even during hunting season. Do you think the deer are moving into town because they know this?

I am not sure I would be wanting to go and feed the skunks too often but then again maybe they are cute as well...

They are cute, but I am just as glad to admire them from a distance. They don't need feeding to come out around here. There are very few days that you don't get a whiff of their particular perfume, especially in the winter.

We have squirrels and raccoons where I live. I was walking out to the car earlier and had nuts falling on my head. Squirrels! Last at night in the Summertime I will go outside and set to enjoy the stars and Summer night. I have seen families of raccoons crossing the street or lawn.

Wow. That's very nice for you to share your photography experiences. Indeed animals are very interesting subjects in photography as they are just perfect for candid. Enjoy and develop your skills, who knows, you might get a job from somewhere around natgeo, animal planet or discovery channel for that! *Wink.

I have taken a photo of a cat once, that is my first animal photography. (I think) Although I don't really have a good camera though.

You know some of my best photos were taken with a little cheap camera I think if you have a good subject you can still get good photos...

Yes. I agree. What matters is the subject and the composition of your photograph. That is something I've learned as I've seen people with good gears only ending up with "not-so-good" takes.
