It doesnt matter if its for Idol,X-factor or the voice.
But there are songs that were oversang in many singing contests and its already getting annoying ,irritating and boring.
1.Whitney Houston songs-I do respect her as of the greatest singers of alltime,I'm not a fan of her but Ido respect her,Its just that I'm so sick of every single belter contestant who will sing a Whitney song just to prove they can sing. Its either the singer will copy her or butcher her song, Its not funny anymore. (I might add Mariah and Celine songs on the list too)
2.Bohemian Rhapsody- Its a classic song but please ban this song in singing contests, Its already overdone and its also over butchered.I think in X-factor,a group is forced to sing this as a sabotaged.,
3.Last Dance- this song is cursed, everyone who tried to sing this song got eliminated ASAP.
4.I dont want to miss a thing- Armageddon is a good movie, this song is awesome but eversince this song existed, Its spammed in every singing contests.
----------
What are the songs that you don't want to be seen in a singing contest ever again?
Why are you sick of those songs?
If you can ban certain songs or from a singing contest what songs would it be?
Which artist, that you don't want to have their songs sang in singing contests?

Well, overall it is touch and go with singers like Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. I personally know I have been asked to sing "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" in Karaoke contests, and even been recorded doing it. So I guess it would depend on the person and the song. Bohemian Rhapsody is a hard one to do, and should be avoided, unless you are Constantine Mourallis. As for other songs, how about Carrie Underwood? Too many think because she won on IDOL hers are good songs to do, but they are often quite butchered as well.
But I really think more shows need to stick to Themes and such or take on more like the Voice does to prevent Wrong songs being sung all the time for sure.

I do like the themes and I hope producers will try to explore the themes in a much higher level, I would like to see American singing contest to make them unreleased songs from popular singers(in a singers album only 2 to 4songs were released as singlesand some of the unreleased songs are awesome), or songs from Indie singers. Another idea of mine is to get foreign songs, translate it in english and make the contestants sing them.
what i love about themes is that everyone is in a much more equal slate but there should not be genre as a week theme cos, its painful to see non country singers sing country, or make rock singers sing teenyboppers.
If the contestants can write songs, make them sing originals even if its not grand finals yet, so they can share what kind of singers they were.

I do agree that when you make someone who is not a country singer sing country or a country singer be made to sing rock, what if this is not really there style and they end up not doing well and sent home based on this is really unfair. Personally the idea of them being able to sing songs they write is an excellent idea. They can on the Voice and X-Factor so American Idol should allow it as well. If they want to do Themes then it needs to be maybe music from the 70s, or Music of Today or whatever not the Just country, etc. Give everyone an equal chance for sure.

about themes, I think there are hundreds of themes they cando but for sure, there should not be a "genre week" I believe people should not be forced to sing a genre they dont like. Singer tributes are always a good themes cos not only it honor singer, their songs gets reinvented in a good way. I think contestants should be allowed to sing originals at least 3 times, throughout the season. I mean if America's next top model was able to have an episode where contestants write their own songs, then singing contest should be too.
I guess there should be balance in themes and song choices too.

I decided to catch up with the latest Idol season, I skipped the current season but changed my mind and decided to have episodes marathon... Uggh, I hated Georgia on my mind.

I agree with you about the songs from those great singers, they should try otehr songs too, old songs and give it a new twist and not just the same shouting songs.. Don't stop believing is, I think cursed too. It would be nice if they tired foreign songs, so we can hear new music..

another cursed songs if " I feel good" well only if its sang before top 12. Everyone sang it, got eliminated instantly. We can say melanie Amaro of X-factor broke that cursed but she sang it at top 4.
I heard about the dont stop believing curse before too. It eliminated more peoplein Dancing with the stars though.

I totally agree with Bohemian Rhapsody but extend it to any and all Queen songs for much the same reasons you stated for Whitney Houston songs always either imitating or butchering.
Newer songs should be banned because nowadays there are very few truly good songs that show ability.

I dont know about new songs since, they always force teen and kid contestants to sing recent songs, I think rearranging crappy songs and turning them good might be interesting though than butchering an iconic song.
Thats my biggest issue with Whitney songs,Its either they will end up like karaoke singers trying to sound like Whitney or they will look messy.
I think contestants should be allowed to sing their original composition.

I agree that there are some songs that I'm tired of hearing on these shows but I dont think any songs should be banned. We might miss out on a great performance if we do that. I know I was sick of hearing Somewhere Over the Rainbow on singing contests but changed my mind when Katharine McPhee did it on the finale. She was so good that it almost made me cry.

I think somewhere over the rainbow is more spammed at beauty pageant talent competitions, but yeah that performance makes her shine over Taylor.
But there are people who became Phenomenal with less singing contest popular songs too.

I don't think that it is proper to ban this songs from being sang in the said talent shows. First, those contestants are probably singing those songs of great divas to show their vocal range and command. Songs of the 90's decade are great and take it from me (im only on my early 20's). Prohibiting them from singing those songs not only deprive them the chance to show their true talent but also depriving the younger generation from hearing songs that change the landscape of music industry.

the oversang songs are one of the reasons why many singing contests dropped in ratings cos its getting boring already. there are great popular songs that can make a person shine but they never see the light of day in singing contests, plus we also have the currents songs. Idol actually banned Britney Spears songs from the first season to season 8. There are great songs of 90's that are hits, that can be sang by belters yet they were never tested in singing contests.

"I always love you" is the most sickening of them all. Them those producers should hire me as part of the creative,I will make weekly themes that can make singing competitions interesting again.

Umm no one is going to votefrom that, what I think would be better is to genre change a song or sing a song that is popular that is never been sang singing contest before.
