Looking at the picture of this discussion topic, it is reminding me of my ear that's really bothering me right now. I have had a cold for about 3 days now and it was only yesterday that I drank medicine, unfortunately, a few hours ago, my ears started to feel like it's muffed and I am having a hard time hearing on my left side of the ear...It must be due to my cold, but the effect also feels like I am aboard an aircraft and there's a weird pressure on my ear...
Do you know of effective ways in trying to make this kind of feeling go away?

If it's a cold you better put some cotton (wool) in it (you buy it at the supermarket or pharmacy) and keep it closed for some day. So no extra cold or just a bit of wind can come into it.
My granny always said that you have to put some warm oil in it. (sunflower or olive oil something like that).
I can't remember I ever did that but if you want to try it I would suggest you to put it on the cotton first and not directly into your ear.
If there is a lot of sticked dirt in your ear it can make it flow out.
Other thing you can do is let your doctor have a look in your ear (which I think you already did or?).
Or see if there is something wrong with your nose. This can also be a reason why your ear is keep hurting. Try it out by blowing your nose, keeping your head down, etc. See if there is any change in your ear. This might be the reason for that strange pressure you feel.

I'll also try the cotton and put some oil. I'll take note on not applying the oil in my ear. I pray for better hearing tomorrow!

It will go after sometime.
I am having same problem when having colds and it's kind of irritating really.
just bear with it and it will go away.

I hope it will go away soon! (^_^) I'll have to irritate my sister like asking her to repeat what she says, LOL like earlier...she might think that I'm joking about not hearing her clearly...

The decongestants should help with the ear problem, but the only other thing I can suggest is to sleep on the ear that is giving you the problem. You could "pop" your ears, but ENT's don't suggest that.

I want to try sleeping on my problem ear later. I'll keep my fingers crossed (^_^).

I totally feel the same way. I have a cold since last week, I only drink paracetamol. And o far, no effect. I don't like to drink medicine for colds or cough, and now it's getting worse. I also feel that pain in the ears. I try to gargle warm water with salt if my throat is itchy. But that's all. I couldn't even breathe when I go to sleep.
