Congratulation to Italy. I did a search on Berlusconi. He did a lot of bad and questionable things. It seems like there was a lot of scandal around him. How did he keep getting elected and how did he keep surviving? I read that it was the economy that finally did him in. What is the economy like in Italy? How about Europe? What is going on right now with the economy. I can not keep up with all the news of the world because so much is happening so fast.

Berlusconi control directly 3 tv private channels and controlled as prime minister 2 of the 3 public channels, so he succeeded in keep the leadership for 18 years. Now he has been defeated by crysis. Italian economy is very bad and the next government must take very important decision to avoid the total failure of the country. For sure next leader will be more serious and I hope he will do the best for Italy.

I hope that you will get a better leader this time around, one that will benefit Italy and the Italian People. I have been hearing about the scandals that surrounded Berlusconi, such as with call girls. But I did not realize the Italian economy was in shambles as well. I only heard about this very recently. I have been watching the Italian people celebrating the end of The Berlusconi regime. I hope that you are out there celebrating also.

Hi Mat punk: So you are enjoying the departure of Berlusconi. I don't know too many things about the Berlusconi administration because I don't live in your country but I knew he has been disrespectful with the judges and that he has so many power because of the media he owns. I also knew about his scandals. I think that, if I'd be in your place I would also celebrate his departure. Hope Mario Monti would be a good president for your country. ALVARO

Yes, you know the principal aspects about Berlusconi. He reached an incredible level of scandals that in Europe nobody wanted to stay next to him. Now the crisis is very bad and the Government lead by Monti will take very unpopular economic laws. Anyway I hope Monti could be a good president for my country, for sure he'll be better than Berlusconi!

Congratulations ... and good luck. Berlusconi is gone for now, but you have not heard the last of him just as we have not heard the last of the kingmaker here, Rupert Murdock. But you are a huge step forward with his resignation. Happy Day, paison.

Yes, this is only the first step. Berlusconi will try to take the control of Italy again and I hope Italians remember in which situation he bring Italy. He controls a lot of media so it's not so easy to get rid of him.

Yes, this has been the problem for so many years. He controlled more or less the totality of principal medias in Italy and so he has been able to keep the leadership of the country for a lot of time.

This is only the first step. Berlusconi and his political party keep staying in the Parliament so even if he decreased his power he has still a lot of it. I hope the new Prime Minister can avoid the failure of Italy.
