Hi mylotters, I am wondering why we call our friends, friend while others are bestfriends. In my own understanding, friends are those whom we exchange our hi's and hello's! with waving our hands, talks some minor issues sometimes. But Bestfriend are those close friends that we even talked to them our inner feelings, a persons that even our deepest secret can confides, shares them our joys and sorrows, laughter and sadness and whom we talk anything, everything under the sun with out any reservations. Share me your opinions please. A pleasant Sunday everyone!

For me, just a friend is someone who as you said is just a hi, bye people to whom we just share a few talks and a few jokes and leave it there. A best friend is a person from whom we learn something more than just sharing things and stuffs to them. Best friends are those people from whom you learn good things about life and sometimes you speak very few things to them, but those few conversations will prove to be the best converstations you have ever had and you believe to have learnt a lot from this person. While a close friend is someone who has been with you for long time enough or the understand between you is too good enough that you both understand each other without a word spoken out. This is that person to whom you share even your worst mistakes. The basis for this friendship is the pure trust that one holds on the other. You surely know that, no matter how bad you are and what mistake you make, this person won't think anything bad about you and this person won't judge you. What ever it may be, who ever it may be, either a friend or a best friend or a close friend, friends are the best part of your life. True one's are really rare. But you are the luckiest if you get them! Have a nice day!

You are right, a friend is nothing unusual, no extra feeling toward a friend unlike a Bestfriend is exceptional. So we have to treasure when found them. God bless!

Right, but there is sometimes a feeling for that friend strangely as best friend. That even in distance you have that feel in a special way of letting your inner self be flowed out by sharing what is deep within you. A spiritual brotherly relationship kapatid.

A Friend stick up for you in a fight while a BEST Friend would jump in and beat that bi*ches up for you. I love you sister, thank you, you did not left me on my battle, Thank you for the support. Our friendship tested by trials but thank you, you stay with me, because of that I promise you our sisterhood will last for a lifetime. Please take care of yourself always. God bless you more!

All friends are merely just friends to me. Now granted there will be many people that I will get along with, but those people are just acquaintances. We talk to them, we really get along with them. Often times it is just something, small talk to pass the minute but really those people, we know who they are, but they are not going to be someone that we're going to be thinking about all that often. I don't really like the term best friend. Friendship is not really a competition. There are just going to be a lot of times where people who are considered friends are just rather friends. There is really no best to me about it. Granted there are some times where some friends are going to get on my nerves more so than others, but that is really just the nature of friendship. The term best friend is always an unfair distinction.

A friend knows a few things about you. A best friend could write a very embarrassing biography on your life story. God bless

A friend has never seen you cry. A best friend won't tell anyone else that you cried...just laugh about it in private with you when you aren't down anymore.

A friend is someone that you talked to everyday, the one you greet every time you see them. I also share some secrets with my friends, and they also share some secrets to me. But best friend is very different. They are very close to you, you can tell them anything, share them everything. They can accept you for whoever you are. You don't have to pretend if you are with them, being yourself and them appreciating you for who you are.

WE may have lot of friends bu for sure we only have2 or 3 bestfriends. For me, friends are just a superficial things,we are not sure how sincere they are and how honest they would be in us. While bestfriends are those with a close relationship with us. They seemed to be our crying shoulders when our family are not there. I love to have a lot of friends and knowing a lot of people but I treasured most the bestfriends I have here... Have a great day.

A friend helps you find your prince. A best friend kidnaps him and brings him to you.

There's really differences with the two. And yes you are right. We only get to share most of the things we think are too personal to our bestfriend. Although sometimes because we tend to tell our friends too about those things that is because we feel comfortable telling them something to release our emotions. Sometimes we also don't tell some secrets to our bestfriend because we know that they are like our family, or sister, or a brother that will nag at us if we have done some crazy thing. So I guess bestfriends can be consider as one of our family member.

A friend is someone who you can greet when see her outside just give her a nods or just greet her simple hi or hello and that's it. A Bestfriend is not nice to your face, it is the person who is nice to you behind your back. God bless!

I can't say I use the term best friend anymore, but I certainly do still have a separation between the type of friends. Like you said, friends are most people that we can have small talks with and are the ones that we're willing to hi to as we pass them. Best friends or close friends are the ones that we can lean on in times of trouble and the ones that we want to celebrate first with when we have something amazing going on in our lives. They're like our family, but not of our blood. At least that's how I like to think of them. :)

Yes, a friend is someone that if we see outside just wave our hand as a sign that we see them. While a bestfriend is even go long periods of time without speaking, never question the friendship. These kind of friends pick up like they just spoke yesterday, regardless of how long it has been or how far away they live from each other. They don't hold grudges; they understand that life is busy and will always love each other. Blessing!

We have best friend because of favoritism and intimacy. When we are with our friends, there is one person that you are most comfortably sitting beside and more likely to share what you know first before you share it with the others. That person is who your best friend is. There are just things that you can do better and more comfortably with your best friend than your other friends because you know that you will never be put down by that person and you had proven it several times.

I personally also sometimes still difficult to distinguish between these terms. whether only by sharing, spending time with, and others that are carried out together, whether it be called a friend or best friends?. I have my own understanding just like this: My best friend is myself (do not mean that I'm selfish, and do not need anyone else. lol), but this is because only ourselves who knows everything about us, while others only know a small part of us. When we share our grief, they only know superficially while we ourselves who really feel tremendous sorrow.
