A Great Show At Minnesota Grand Prix - Swimming

At the recent Minnesota Grand Prix which is the first of seven stops this season on USA Swimming's Grand Prix series, I just have to give due credit to the current prolific and world champion Michael Phelps who won the 200 metre butterfly and the 100 metre backstroke. Though Phelps dominated in his pet event, the 200 metre butterfly finishing in a time of 1:56.12s., I just couldn't help notice China's Wu Peng who came in a noticeable close second in 1:57.67 which really make me marvel how much China has achieved to arrive at this stage and wonder if he will be able to upstage the 14-time Olympic gold medal winner, at his pet event. The race was indeed relatively close and I would not be surprise if Wu Peng could upstage him in the future and for what you know may see him at the winner's podium at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. I would not be surprised but I suppose it would be too fast to conclude now. Who knows? Ref: http://sports.xin.msn.com/article.aspx?cp-documentid=5521067

While the time of the second place finsher was a great time, in a sport like swimming, one second is a relatively long time between finishers and it really can take a person their entire career to be able to speed up that much in their career. With that said, Michael Phelps is getting a little bit older now and that means that he may not have the success in the 2012 Olympics that he has had in the past games if he does decide to compete in them.
