I Have a Rant

I've been a member of myLot for over 5 years. Been very content and happy to contribute what I know about certain discussion topics. Lately each time I respond to a disscussion I see the little icon on the right has been clicked as "abuse." This happens within seconds of my responding to a discussion. Could this be a glitch in the myLot program itself or are there members out there who do this for grins? Would appreciate any feedback and your ideas about what I can do to handle this situation. Trying to contact myLot didn't work so well this morning so guess that's a dead deal! Thanks in advance.

The icon that you see is for YOU to report your own posts. It has not been used already. If you look carefully you will see that on posts by other Lotters there are 3 icons name,y +/-/! whil you only see ! on your own posts. If you double post (due to a connection error for ecample) then YOU can use that icon to ask admin to remove the duplicate.

Yep I see the 3 icons next to the responses but next to my initial discussion is the ! and no other choices. I might feel real stupid for posting this discussion....lol Thanks for responding.

Diana always comes to the rescue. And sometimes makes us feel stupid. but that's because she cares about us and mylot.

It is not my intention to make anyone feel stupid I do wonder what colour hair some Lotters have though

I think it's just a glitch.

Not a glitch. A mistake as you can see above

@Ambie: I thought the same thing. I guess we both read the discussion post wrong because it seems from the way that she's written it, that someone has been reporting her. But Diana is here to the rescue.

Or a glitch. It seems the report button has been behaving herself though and Carol just didn't notice.

THat is strange. I wonder if it's a gremlin. Doesn't sound like a glitch. What a bugger. I have never noticed things like that...I am not however very observant!

It didn't look right yesterday but was explained to me and I understand the concept now. We can't rate our own discussions or responses which is wise on myLot's part. Thanks for responding.

Glad to hear you have been here so long, I love it here. I'm not going to say anything about your rant as it has been answered several times above, for me to comment more would be redundant, so I won't instead I will extend an offer to tip the little brown jug that I always carry.

Thanks for this discussion, Carol. To be honest, I hadn't even noticed that button but I'm sure at some point that I would have and questioned it also. It's been a learning lesson for me for sure.

I thought it was strange since I only noticed it yesterday. It makes perfectly good sense for myLot to protect each discussion. Thanks for responding.

This is the first I've seen it. I definitly would have wondered when I did finally notice.

That's troublesome. Could it possibly someone who you have wronged on mylot before and is now trying to take his or her revenge on you?

I'm (knock on wood) not having that problem at the current time. I hope if it's a glitch, they fix it. If it's someone getting a kick out of harassing you, they move on because they get bored and go do something else. Either way, it's got to be frustrating.

Think I understand the concept now and nobody is following me. I think when upgrades were done they made it impossible to rate our own responses and discussions. Makes sense. Thanks for responding.

Oh yeah, it only means we cannot rate + or - our own topic or comment, but can only use this ! Well, good and fine, or else I will always rate myself a + You make a good topic to discuss here

This isn't something that I've ever seen so I can't say that I actually know what you are talking about. However, you do have a really good star rating, so it would be my guess that there isn't someone that is following you around and flagging you for abuse on the system because you wouldn't be keeping a great star rating if you were being accused of abuse all the time.

hi carol, wow I have been a myloter for all of 2 1/2 week and I need to ask you where is that icon exactly? I want to make sure thats not happening to my discussions..I definately would hate to think that my discussions are catagorized as "abusive" because even tho I am very opinioned I would never want to respone in an abusive manner...thanks,,hope you get it figured out soon...

The icon is to the right of your discussion when responding. You should see 3 icons: a plus, a minus and an exclamation point on someone elses discussion. You can also see it when someone responds to a discussion. I was focused on the wrong icon so it was my stupidity. Thanks for responding.
