" When you delete something from facebook, all you doing is hiding it from yourself" there are 800 millions of facebook users. the american giant social networking site is realy hacking all our details" all our details including photos, messages and postings in facebook page dating back years is stored by the facebook. the things we thought deleted are keep stored. australian law student max schrems got all his facebook data of 1222 pages.throug his complaint. .........the problem is that most people dont take the time to read the small print in facebook terms and conditions........ check if you have fb account http://www.facebook.com/deccannews/posts/173460766082134 or check this link http://www.deccanchronicle.com/channels/sci-tech/hitech/austrian-student-takes-facebook-063

Hello lijoos. Your post is quite interesting. But may I just give my opinion on this. Facebooks is a social networking site just like any of the other networking sites out there. As the words itself declares SOCIAL and NETWORKING. Meaning you go out the world and mingle with people. Virtually. You can not socialize by keeping your identity hidden. That is probably just joining a community but you are not really socializing or networking. The moment you put out your name and email address on the net, you know that you are opening yourself up to the whole world. So why get scared when you know that in the first place? Oh well, that is just where I stand as of the moment. Good day to you!

I knew that the information was never deleted because its like impossible to get rid of information that has been posted or spread on the internet! Unfortunately, that's just the way it is so you should seriously monitor your internet use and what you share on the internet so it doesn't come back to harm you in the near future!

I know. I just don't understand why people put their lives out there in cyber space for all to see! Even if you do the block of all but friends...what you have there is for all practical purposes....set in stone! When you have a message session back and forth with someone...and you delete it...you are the only one it gets deleted from! The person you were talking to keeps their's and if they continue to respond to the track of messages already sent...they all come back to you again! And with harddrives etc....it is all stored somewhere. Kind of spooky if you stop a second and think about it. That is why I only put the very basic and very general on my page.

yeah, i think it beforehand and so i take cautious enough not to store personal information about myself and put everything posted on the site. But sometimes i may not aware that certain messages or information and details i give may end up trapping my identity too.Social networking on the net need to give extra care too wherein it is published internationally and globally and can be stored anytime, retrieved, reviewed and forwarded as well.

Most people don't read the terms and conditions for anything so people's complaints are useless sometimes. i think that if you don't want people to see something then don't put it up on the internet in the first place. I could care less if Facebook saves everything since i wouldn't put anything that is too personal up on it.

Is that true? Well i don't think that really matters. I don't post important or sensetive thing on my profile and I think nobody should. Facebook is like a store where everyone can buy. If you post something too interesting it will get the attention of evryone and in a little time it willl become sensational. There's really a terms and condition for theu se of their site, but it's stil you responsibilty as to how you use it properly for your benefits.

I don't quite get this right at all. You are keen to go out & socialize. Facebook or whichever gives you an opportunity [with all caveats stated, your problem not theirs if you push ahead without the patience to read the small print] also gives you tools to control your experience. If you drop your guard, why blame them? After all these sites exist because there is an explicit demand from users world over. Lets be discreet ourselves. No offense please.

It's that way with a lot of places. Phone companies, banks you name it. I bet we have Home land security to thank for this. I guess it's the price we have to pay for our safety. I don't have anything to hide so it does not matter to me. I really don't like the idea of them putting my family photos out on the net. But, I on don't have to put them on there either.
