Reasons why we avoid facebook

My reason? I avoid it because facebook tends to lure you in for hours and in the end, you'll be able to think that you haven't done anything much for that day!
Aside from that, sometimes we avoid people from chatting with us, keeping us from doing things we want. We don't wanna be rude and immediately say goodbye to someone who just chatted up with you.
Do you have reasons why you avoid facebook?
Cite them here and share! XD
I'm not trying to badmouth facebook people, in fact, i think it's a decent site. Only some people in facebook give it a bad name and they are, yet, another reason why i don't facebook! HHAHAH!

I don't avoid Facebook at all. The games on there are a nice pass time when I have time to waste. I do not post my every move on there though as some people do. I always thought it a bit of a paradox that some people complain about privacy and say that websites should not "track" their page visits, yet they post their every move on FB?

Hi Aja
I think those folks who do that don't think of it as an invasion of privacy, because they are providing the information willingly. But if you think about it, when you track a computer online, you are tracking an IP address, but you have no way of knowing who is operating the computer. But there is something that is easy to track, and you are pretty much guaranteed of the identity of the person behind it; the cell phone. Cell phones must report their location to towers so incoming calls and texts can be routed to the phone. So you pretty much know where that phone is every minute of the day. Now one can argue that only your cell carrier can use that information to track a phone, but that can be disputed. Ever see one of those posts on social media that says "Jane Doe is now at the gym at 123 4th Street"? Ever notice those say posted by a phone's mobile app? So how do those folks think that information is gathered? Oh, and who is likely to have your phone other than you?
Yep, gothca! know exactly where you are now.

I wonder why some people like posting their every move on facebook. are they not scared that people will invade their privacy? they have to learn to control themselves from such impulses.
that's real ironic, jj and it's true. people can be contradictory, what do they want?

Well in my case, I don't avoid Facebook, I just rather be here in mylot than there. I used to love Facebook. I used to play poker there for hours. Until one day, I discovered that you can actually make money online and I just got tired of people talking nonsense in Facebook so I barely log in there anymore. Why would I waste my time on something and gain nothing when I can use it on something else that could give me not just additional knowledge but also cash. So for now, mylot is my new favorite 'social networking site'.

haha, most of us here are from facebook. I've heard people here talk about the nonsense they find on facebook, though it's good entertainment. it's not good to hang around facebook too long, it could result to procrastination and even fights with other facebook people... when you do something wrong.
for me, the discussions here are more sensible. lacks pictures though...

I avoid it because it gives me so much bad memories. I am so sad about seeing pictures in there and it sure gives me some troubled times. i am also tempted to look at other's whereabouts which i am not very fond of but is always tempted... then i would just feel sad about my situation. =(

Most sites lure you in. Though I'd much rather be lured in to mylot for an amount of time since I get paid here and not on there. I think though FB makes it hard to sort thru the posts you want to see, recent, older, ect since the new format came thru. I only really look at it just to see what friends are up to. My hubby actually deleted his account being annoyed with the new format and that all he really liked was the games and he is bored of them now.

I just log in to Facebook everyday just to have it available just in case I need to use it for logging into some sites I can link it into. It is so much easier that way than to keep on doing it manually. I am avoiding it in a sense that I turned off the chat mode. Sometimes there are just people who keeps on bugging you in the middle of something important that you have to do on line. Plus it doesn't give you any monetary benefits unlike MyLot!

Hi! Yes, I have a couple reasons why I avoid (or at least TRY to) facebook. I spend a lot of time reading all the status updates, commenting and liking. I mean it's nice to keep in touch with people and catch up yet it just gets overwhelming sometimes. Another reason is the applications and games on facebook. It can get very addicting at times where I can spend hours on it and not realize that hours have passed. It would be nice if I wanted to kill time but most of the time, I spend more time on facebook than I really should. However, I must say that I have been using facebook less often now so I guess this whole trying to avoid facebook thing is working for me slowly but surely!

so right, misz! facebook is addicting, one has to learn to stop getting attached to facebook. good thing i realized it sooner than most. otherwise, i wouldn't be here earning money. hehe
that's a good thing, mis. at least you are mildly addicted to facebook, facebook can be good for us when it's within the ideal dosage.

I do not avoid FB,I just check in to see what's new,and since I am only friends with people that i really know,I do not get useless chat requests.when I have the time,I chat.otherwise I just tell them that I am busy, and they understand. So i get to enjoy checking it out,and I do not stress.

Well, I don't have the thinking of avoiding facebook. Because I have something to share something there sometimes...
Facebook has a bad thing and good thing into it. The bad things was encounter people who don't care about anything. The good thing was we can find people who really a best of friend and help us something we do online

I don't use it as often as most people because it is just a tool for me. I don't work for the tool. It works for me. So, if it can work for me, I use it. The only occasion that it works for me is when I need to contact people via online means and some people are simply stuck on the Facebook. That's when this tool come in handy.
For one thing, I don't share stuff on my facebook... It just doesn't make sense for me.

I do not stay on Facebook more than a few minutes. I would like more to talk on the phone than posting on the wall or chatting on Facebook. I think it's a loss of time. All kind of causes I do not like! I have to lose my ti8me to select them and so on. It's getting me nervous! I don't like this side of Facebook. But for those who want to make their business known, Facebook is a good way!

I don't necessarily avoid Facebook but I have reduced the amount of time on the website. Everything is about exercising restraint and still enjoy what we like to do on the internet. I am not on there all day but I do check it regularly, and stay logged in even though the tab is closed. Sometimes, I won't post for almost a full day on my wall but I will look for little things from my circle to laugh and brighten my day.

I avoid Facebook so I can keep more hours and time to myself! With Facebook, i miss assignments and forget to study or do work so its really bad for my grades! Plus Facebook updates way too much and it is becoming kind of a challenge to navigate the site normally! I still do like Facebook but I think Twitter is better! :)

hello,
Actually, I dont have a reason why I am not that active in Facebook. I just cant find myself looking for it since I feel nothing to do with it. Well, I do not worried on those people that will chat me because I always offline. ha ha. Yeah, I respect your point of you about Facebook.

Hm, if someone can control himself well, I think there's no need to totally avoid Facebook :p. But if he can't, maybe it's better for him to avoid Facebook, at least he can avoid to waste his time..
As for myself, I don't avoid Facebook at all. Maybe I am still a frequent user of them, but I don't stare at Facebook for hours. I am not playing games on Facebook anymore, and I rarely do chat. I am just using Facebook to see some updates and have contact with people, that's it..

I am always online on Facebook and I usually use it to communicate with close friends and relatives living abroad or in another city. But I only go online when they are. But if they don't, I just change my chat settings to offline so that noone would bother me. :D

I don't avoid facebook because it keeps me updated. I am actually Online most of the time and I'm usually pinned up for hours just to play SIMS, PetSociety and other games. You once told me that instead of making my SIM's life so perfect, why don't I do something worthwhile and be productive. It gave me a thought you know and thanks to Mylot, I am enjoying and at the same time making money. I have to agree that there are just a lot of annoying people in facebook who would ask you to like their status, pics or pages n etc. I usually just ignore them.
Happy Mylotting and GOD BLESS ^_^
