The ones made from different kinds of soda are good, like Orange Crush cupcakes or Dr. Pepper cupcakes, but I don't see how you can beat a red velvet cupcake like the one you mentioned.

Frankly I don't get the rave about red velvet...tastes like chocolate to me! But I love cupcakes to. I love all those mentioned! I love to decorate them too! I watch Cupcake Wars on the food channel (or TLC, don't remember!) and although they are fun...some times I think.."who'd eat such a thing?". They have so many odd, unusual and down right weird, non-sweet ingredients that they have to use that it just seems to me to be to many flavors and to many ingredients. They had them use bacon one time and although I love bacon, not on a cupcake! I realy like making cupcakes using my mini cupcake maker...about a 2inch size cupcake. My GD's love making those! And they are great for them.. no oven! Dollop some batter in the electric teflon maker, close the lid and in 5 minutes they are done! I like cupcakes over a cake...as no mess, no forks needed...no plates needed and you can enjoy more than one flavor!

They are quick, easy and no mess! Go to my profile and read my page called How to Bake Cupcakes in 5 Minutes. My grand daughters do this often and one of them is 5 yo!

The nice thing about cupcakes, is that there is almost nothing stopping what you can do with them. A lot of people will use different types of cake mixes that are out there, and then just create new ways to fix them up. Adding Gummy worms, etc. to the mix, or to the top of them, adding other candies, fresh fruit, etc. Over the yrs. I have had them many different ways, and what a treat that is for sure.

The best cupcakes that I've ever had is cupcakes that have chocolate chips and peanut butter chips in them with a chocolate cake for the main material for the cupcake. I can't remember what the icing was on these cupcakes, but they were absolutely to die for and it took all the control that I had to keep from eating all of them. With that said, there are some gourmet cupcake stores around here that I've heard have a lot of wonderful cupcake flavors, but they are too expensive for me to afford.

I think it was in the summer that a cupcake store opened up near where I live. It was called Big City cupcakes. Although they were delicious, it was unbelievably expensive. So, I was not surprised when I drove by a few weeks ago and saw that the store was already closed. I did get the chance to taste Red Velvet, and it was delicious!

Mmmm...chocolate delights...cupcakes, are one of my favorite desserts, I would have to say cherry cake with buttercream frosting and sprinkles would be my most favorite, but I like a lot of different flavors, I also like muffins.
