You might look at the cost and say that CDs are cheaper than Pen drive. But dear, pendrives are re-usable in a better way than the CDs. Easy to carry, take less space and dont need much care to handle. And sometimes there are no CD drives to some PCs. Please go ahead and Buy your kiddo a pen drive. And better go for 4Gb or more. Because, if you buy 1 or 2 Gb now, then you will regret after few days when the need increases. then you will have to buy another 1 or 2Gb pen drive. So better have one 4Gb than having two 2Gb. But again depends on your need.

My Freind techonolgy is changed you must have to buy your daughet a pen drive it is because if you are going to buy a cd of rs 10-15 then you can store your data only once on it as it is only readable cd with 512 mb memory and read-writable cd of 512 mb would cost you around 100-200 rs and if you buy the pendrive of 512 mb it will cost you about 150rs of a local company. don`t get worry about the company machines usually works well with maintance.... so buy her a pendrive my freind......

I think that USB's are easier to transport and you can add and remove files on it freely! Plus they are smaller and more convenient and now they come in bracelets, or necklaces, and the regular ones (the small sticks) are still being produced as well. Usually, CD's are a one time burn, then you will either have to rip it or find another CD to put more date on to them, so why continue to use Jurassic Age technology? :) Upgrade to a USB! :D

I prefer carrying a pen drive rather than a CD because as your daughter says there are chances of the CD breaking but the pen drive is safe. In fact I always have a pen drive in my purse when I go to work so that I can save data on that and carry it home whenever the need arises.

And a flash or pen drive will attach to your key chain. I think they are much more convenient. Who would want to carry around a CD all the time? Not me.

hi fanta goody you did make a new discussion. oh my todays young people are so up on new electronic gadgets. I imagine the pen drive not that I know anything about it is more useful in some ways than CDs but it sounds like they are not cheap. I cannot remember how much 300 or 400 rupees is in terms of dollars. How old is your daughter as perhaps if shes a teen she would work to help pay for something like a pen drive so she realizes the value of money more. Let me look upo on our search bar for best companies for pendrive e

I have to say, pen drives are much handier to use than CDs. It's very useful especially for transferring files to and fro for school, unlike CDs that you still need to burn. It's a good investment fantabulus, and there are cheap ones too.

Yes, pen drive is better than CD. You can go to Market and check for a pen drive (thumb drive) that has a cap and strong body (Metal body or even if it is plastic, it should be strong), not the one you have attached in picture.

Hi Fanta Well, surely CD is cheap in cost. But pendrive is the better option. I mean CD is one time usable. I mean once you fill the data on it than it can't be reused.(unless its a rewritable CD and it is costly than the normal one)... But pendrive is the flash drive where you can store/save data and delete them later. And also you can fill the data again and again. So more benefit. Also you can get the pendrive of bigger size than the CD, as CD is carrying 700MB size while you can purchase pendrive of 1,2,4,16 GB and bigger sizes. So for me, yes pendrive is better than the CD.

Yaaaa....I am a BCA(Bachelor of computer application) student....So I will keep always a pendrive with me...It's very easy to connect and loading...We can easily carry the pendrives...If we can keep it in our purse..It is small in size...In pendrive, We have a lot of space to use..But in CD and DVD,There have only limited size...We have to take care of these things...While connecting pendrives, We have to scan it first...There should be an antivirus security for your system...Otherwise the viruses will destroy your system....Please don't connect pendrive to the all other systems that have no fire walls....That will be a cause to a big entering of virus....8 GB will be enough for your children...It's about 600-700.... Thank you....

for more secure, i use CD. But for more flexibility i use pen disk. Since pen disk can use to easly read and write, then chance to got virus more than using CD.

Yes you are right . Cd's gives you more protection to your data . Viruses can enter to your pen drive easily and can cause harm to you data's . A virus cannot enter into a Cd without copying the infected file.

HI fanta... this is the first time that i have come to know that you are a female and a mom, i thought you a male. Well, your daughter is right as pen drives is easier to carry than CD and a CD is quiet breakable and the data does not last for a long while if it is opened on many computers but one thing is pen drive carries more viruses than a CD. So be sincere that you have a scan before open. Have a nice time.

A pendrive is supposed to last longer than a CD-RW and can have more space available. Since about two years, I use pendrives working with SD-HD cards : they are cheap and SD cards also, though you can have a box of DVD for the price of one 4 Gb SD-HD. If she wants a pendrive, you should give her the choice between 20 CDs and one pendrive.

Yes I read here the benefits of pen drive wooooo you tell nice choice I will tell her and leave on her which she likes.

In my opinion, I shall encourage you to purchase a pendrive to your daughter. Although a pendrive is more expensive than the CD, but you just have to invest once only for your daughter to catch up the latest trend of the technology. Moreover, the CD and the DVD will soon be outdated. It is the same as the 5 1/4" and the 3 1/2" diskettes which are no longer in the market now.

If you can afford it buy her pendrive. Its easy to use and you can use it many many times. As for CD's only some of them can be use many times. Pendrive is something really useful.

hello fanta,'its been long since we have had any conversation.how have you been all these days?i was busy in some other work and so i couldn't be on mylot. well i also think that pen drives are better as they are easy to handle and you can carry them easily anywhere.plus they have more storage capacity and are re writable too.most of the cd's are not re writable and those who are re writable are a bit more costlier then the ordinary one. so i'll go with your daughter and would say that buy her a pen drive in place of cd. i feel sony is a good company that offers pen drive but there are many companies in the market and make a research before buying it.

i think pen drive is better but yeah I know it costs more. but well, pen drive is more durable, but you can get your data erased if you accidentally erased it. CD's the data tends to be there hmmmmm, forever well at least as the CD's pan. but well, it depends on the needs actually. if your daughter needs and likes to move the data from one comp to another console, well, then pen drive is a great choice. you can fill it with data and after you done with with the files, data I mean, you can store them, hmm have then burnt in CD or just delete them. if not, and you think that she needs data that she can use over and over, I think CD is the more suitable choice.

Yes kyarar you are right even pen drive is costly but more better than CD. CD may be destroy with in two second by our hand but pen drive not. Ohhhhhhh you are telling CD is good choice no no read all discussion.

LOL I did read it all. I just gave you some example in usage. if your daughter isnt too mobile, and she isnt the type of "fill-use-delete" user, I think CD is still a good choice.
