Can you ever control yourself not to laugh when people does things unintentionally that caught our attention or made us shocked? I was on the bus today and in front of me were two guys. Most of the people on board were watching the TV so seriously when someone snores so loud! I saw the guy's reaction and he could not even hide his smile trying to control himself not to laugh loudly.
I could not help but smile too. I do not want to offend the one who snored as we know such is difficult to control too. I snore sometimes when I sleep too, mom says But I have never done it in public or in the bus, I try not to sleep!

I have a friend who does just that. I don't know what she does every night but every time she comes to school, she just sleeps in most of her classes. She said she goes home and sleeps as well, so she doesn't get much work done. It was during a business studies class and the class is pretty much boring! I usually do the worksheets or read my textbook but my friend, she simply just looks at her paper and then her eyes become droopy. She then leans on her hand and then she starts sleeping. At first, you don't hear anything but then you'll start to hear snoring. Then the class became quiet and I bet you the whole class heard it. The teacher even had to go up to her and stare at her. It was so embarrassing. She also drooled a little too. She still sleeps in class though. It's funny catching people snoring at the most unexpected moments.

Triple0, some people are like that when they sit they can easily take a nap even when they're not actually tired. And in her case maybe she's just really bored becoz as you said she only sleeps in business studies class.
That's really embarrassing and it's not a good habit to sleep in class

I guess you've been seated next to a snoring person many times, got used to it and now is comfortable hearing them snore. good for you, coz I smile or giggle sometimes. Not used to it.

I would surely laugh too if i were on your shoes. Imagine snoring in the midst of everybody in the bus!
That's why, i am always control myself to fall asleep in a public transport during the day. I don't want to be seen sleeping with an open mouth and much more snoring!
Maybe, that's understandable if it's during nighttime and the travel takes the whole evening to reach your destination.

I try not to sleep in the bus although sometimes there'll be times when we are tired we really can't control it. I just hope I didn't snore.

I tend to relate with the topic especially when it talks about snoring. That is such a funny incident. In my side it is not funny. It is actually very irritating and disturbing. My boyfriend snores a lot. In fact he snores so loud. I can't even get to sleep.

It's really different when we hear someone on the bus snoring and someone sleeping beside us who snores. Indeed it's really irritating because it's really hard to sleep when you hear it. But snoring in the bus, I think is kinda funny since most of us won't expect such thing most of the time.

That's really funny. If I was there I would have been laughing too. Whenever funny things happen, I really do try to control myself from laughing especially when no one else is laughing. But there are really times when I can't control it.

I also try not to laugh when others aren't laughing. I don't wanna make someone get offended if I laugh.

i also can't control laughing or smiling when something like that happens but i cover my mouth so that it wouldn't be very obvious..well others find it offensive but others who are the one being laughed at are laughing at them selves too. i also snore but its really great because when i fall asleep in a public place my snoring isn't showing off! :)

Hi chillmaik!
Yes all we can do is to stop our self from laughing so loud. These are things can't be controlled if we are in that person's position too And yeah I agree with you too. those snoring people laugh at themselves too as soon as they realized they just have snored!

Hi!
I was on a bus last Monday and there was this person who was snoring so loudly as if he was in his own bedroom! It was unbelievable but I stopped myself from laughing although I could not help it but smile. The person was probably tired the other night or he probably has heart problems. They say people with heart problems often snore in their sleep.
And besides, I snore, too just like you whenever I'm so tired the day before. But I don't snore in the bus since I don't get to sleep too deep in there. Although sometimes when I fall asleep, I sometimes find myself with an open mouth.

enelym001 yes its really hard and usually I do have to come out with a soft chuckle at least. I also realize snoring is sort of hard to
control but at day time in a bus .he he it is funny. although I did this once in film as literature class and a classmate poked me and whispered Mrs Hatley you were snoring. oh i was so embarrassed. I did apologize to the instructor who was really amused. I was in my thirties and tired I guess. the room was dark so they could run the film.Snoring in public is really embarrassing tol say the least.

Hi enelym: I think that in a situation like this I could not help myself and I would laugh to, not for the person but about the situation itself. I don't snor so it's not a problem to me but I see people who sleep on the bus so it could actually happen.

I think that it's people's normal reaction, right? Even if we did not like to laugh, it comes out automatically

A lot of times, people do thinks that they cannot control and it just causes me to snicker. Mostly because it just catches me completely off guard. Those are things that I really shouldn't be finding funny as well. However it just really the timing of the situation. Timing is in fact everything after all. Someone makes a noise, whether away or otherwise, and it's technically natural but it catches me off guard.
I think when you think about it, I'm laughing at the fact that the noise seemed to have come out of nowhere other than the noise itself. And the fact that I was surprised by the little noise to say the very least. That is just something that caused me to really break up into some form of laughter. It does amuse me often times when this happens. I guess noises can be amusing as well.

It's good that there is a Television in the bus. At least the sound will not be that loud lol. Here, the buses are so quiet, and I can hear snores everyday, mostly from girls lol . At first, it was funny, I tried not to laugh, but I got used to it.

It seems to me that you have been here in Dubai.
Did you come here for holiday vacation? Or did you work here?
Yes, it is so quiet inside the bus here. Every phone calls can be heard lol.
One time, I was fighting with someone on the phone, and everybody was looking at me even if my voice wasn't that loud.

Oh yeah there were no TVs in the buses there and it's too quiet so you can really here when someone receives a call, what more a snore. But well we can understand, it's really hard there especially if you're just commuting and the workplace is so far. The busses there are circling one area so much and traffic in small roads.

Well yeah it's really dangerous to sleep in the bus, as there's a lot of bad people who steals our things. Sometimes even when we are awake things like this are made by those people who don't know anything but to steal. I hate those people.

Hi enelym001,
This in one real difficult situation especially in public transportation. I mean the difficulty is for the person sitting besides the snoring person. I am troubled many times by snoring people in the bus, but I try to keep up my tolerance since they snore unknowingly.
I wish they use some kind of nasal drops to control their snoring at least while traveling.
Happy living

Hi calpro!
This is really difficult for the people beside the snoring person. It's somewhat annoying but what I do sometimes is to move that will make him awake. 'Though most of the time, he will just change his head position, go back to sleeping and starts to snore again.
I don't think nasal drops will stop people from snoring

Snoring -- It is interesting one who snores cannot understand or realise that he is snoring. All others can only follow.
I have had experiences of others snoring affecting my sleep -- when I travelled in trains. that was during night times.
I have not come across snoring in buses because I do not travel by buses during night.
You have done a right thing in just watching it and smiling. Many things we do are without our knowledge--breathing, snoring etc.

Some people would not realize they're doing that as they were sleeping good. But there are some people who get awakened by their sudden loud snore. I have a friend before who told me he was shocked hearing himself snore

The only time I snored was as I was high pregnant and sleeping on my back. It was a very annoying sound and it even woke me up and it took me some time to find out that it was me!
I was really afraid it would never stop. Later I heard it's not that abnormal since at the end of the pregnancy all muscles etc are getting less tight. Great to know and I am even more happy that problem was solved.
I seldom meet people in bus or train snoring. Might be our rides are too short to fall asleep that steady?

Yeah I know about it coz the guy suddenly woke up when he made such loud snore, that's why we need to stop laughing, it's not nice for him to saw someone laughing at him. Well yeah maybe if the ride is just few minutes then no one will be able to take a nap

hahaha..its really funny to hear someone in riding public transportation snore, but sometimes we have to understand the person, maybe he snores because he is really tired from an evening work, they said that when you are tired you really snore a lot. But I hope it will not happen to me for it is really very embarrassing...hahahaha...

Hi Gabs,
Yes it's also true, we should try to understand how tired they are from work and fell asleep on the bus. And eventually snores without them being aware of the sound they create. For me, I'm pretty sure I won't as I try not to sleep on the bus

Snoring on the bus!
If I saw someone sleeping I'd be worried that they may miss their stop or anything urgent or important but if I heard them snoring I'd probably giggle a bit! It's hilarious that they are getting such good sleep in the company of a dozen strangers! I would never go to sleep in public unless amongst close peers or relatives. It's just too risky! :P
