under the tree on Christmas morning?
I know that a lot of you know that I start my Christmas shopping very early in the year. In fact, here we are with a little bit over a week to go before Black Friday and I'm pretty much done with my Christmas shopping, I just need to get one more Santa Claus gift for each of my children and some new clothes for my son from my husband and myself.
This year both of my children are going to be getting new bikes (that is the item that I still need to buy). They are also getting some Zhu Zhu pets items that I found on deep clearance at Kroger during the summer. Finally, as far as items that they will both be getting is a remote control helicopter (great bargain on Amazon). There are a few other things that they will be getting as well and my total out of pocket is about $100.
So, what are you getting this year for your children?

This year will be tight, but not as tight as last year when I was out of work. I actually tried a flea market booth at that time and have alot of my "For Sale" items left over from when I shut it down, so I don't plan on buying anything except maybe a new handbag for my teenaged daughter. I already bought her some very nice boots a couple weeks ago and I warned her they were an early Christmas gift. I sell shoes at a local Mall and used my employee discount. Actually, last year was skimpy on the gifts but we had one of the best and happiest Christmases together, which just goes to show you it isn't just about the presents.

While I won't deny that the presents are nice (especially when they are things that I need), I agree that the holidays are really about spending time with your family. I'm looking very forward to seeing my aunts, uncles and cousins during Christmas weekend.

Unfortunately my family is scattered across the US and we won't be gathering this year. Working in the retail sector pretty much keeps me tied close to home this time of year so we can't travel. But I know we will enjoy the spirit of the season and at least get to make calls.

I'm sorry to hear that your family will not be able to gather this year. I really couldn't begin to imagine what the holiday season would be like if I wasn't able to gather together with my family.

my daughters are older and i shop all year round for them. i guess the main things that they are going to get are their baby books (i scrapbooked them for them this year); my younger daughter is going to get a kapo (for her guitar), my older daughter is getting a gold and diamond necklace (a hand me down from me) and some gift certificates for clothes and a devotional each (along with some small stuff). we dont have a lot of extra cash this year like most people so that will be it.

Still sounds like it is going to be a wonderful Christmas for them. I know that when my brother turned 18 he got a diamond ring from my mother that used to be our father's and to this day it is one of his most prized possessions.

We just have a toddler, and he doesn't know what Christmas is yet. He is going to get a xylophone from Santa. I also have a new puzzle for him and a book. He already has so many toys that I don't really want to go out and buy more because we don't have a lot of space.

The space issue is completely understandable, I would do the same thing if my children were still small. However, they are getting older and do expect to get a lot of things for Christmas.
This year, I don't feel bad going a little bit overboard because of the fact that we've had to make so many sacrifices this year.

I'm getting the bikes for my kids on Black Friday at Wal-Mart and that is the only way that I would be able to afford them. My son's is going to be $29 and my daughter's is going to be $35. They both need them badly because they've definitely outgrown the bikes that they have right now.

Hi dorannmwin,
I haven´t started yet my Christmas goodies. I make apricot jam from my apricot tree for everyone, but the apricots are still green. They get ripe about a week before Christmas and by that time I have my range full of jms being made in my biggest pots and the recycled jars I´ve been saving will be all clean. There are other goodies I´ll make that will also need Mother Nature´s help. I want to make tomato chutney, but I don´t know if the tomatoes will be there. Not a flower yet.
For the very small kids, I´ll go buy some toys after I have my last appointment this year with my doctor (December 13). I know I need to buy a book about dragons for one of my grandchildren, but I have a problem with the bigger of the smallest as he´s in thet difficult age where he´s not a child anymore. For the baby anything will do, soft and with lots of colours.

I love doing homemade or edible gifts for Christmas, but most of the people in my immediate family don't really appreciate those things.
Now, there have been some holiday seasons in the past when I didn't have a lot of money and I've made some interesting crafts to give as gifts to extended family members (they won't be getting anything this year) and they've loved them.

Glad that your children get nice gifts. sometimes we feel happy in giving rather than receiving. This is true in the case of our children. We want to give more affection, love and gifts to our children.
Remote control helicopter-- that will be nice to watch it flying high in the sky. good day.
