I'm trying to learn drawing nature in a realistic way. Is it wise to refer to tutorials in youtube? Has anyone of you tried drawing using tutorials or manuals? Have you polished your skill? In this way, I'll pursue the tutorials and practice often.

Youtube helps, I believe. Whenever there is a skill i want to learn, I look it up on youtube. having someone demonstrate it for me helps me learn faster.
Each artist has his own style of drawing. you are not required to copy another artist's style.
Just practice, practice, practice until you get the hang of it.
I think people can teach you some techniques, but most of the effort and talent would be left to you. You gotta try hard to draw it and figure out yourself than rely on manuals and how other people do it. sure, you can get ideas from them. That's good.
I've been preoccupied on polishing my other skills like writing and hip hop dancing, for fun. So my drawing skills may be rusty now. Doodling once in a while is good exercise. I have drawing classes once a week. Drawing with other people keeps me motivated and triggers my competitive nature. It's another way to improve faster, i think.

I could not agree more with your response. It's like I am enlightened with my motto which is competing with one's self. Yeah, healthy competition helps a lot also. Thanks!

When I first started learning how to draw, I learnt from books. I would suggest that method because it does go more in depth with explaining how to do things, you just lack the visual.
However, using YouTube tutorials can be extremely helpful because you can watch how something is done. I haven't watched any on how to draw, but I have watched several on hair and makeup and they do the job better than someone doing my hair and telling me how they did it. So I'm sure it will help you just fine.

Thanks! What are these books? For the mean time, while I still don't have them, I think youtube is my best resource. Thank you so much!

YouTube tutorials often leave out the "how to's" and give you only the most basic elements. They film themselves doing the painting, but don't always explain what type of brush, what color paint, etc. Practice is your best bet, although the tutorials can be inspiring at times.
