I think a surprise night...plan a night that he won't know what is going to happen until it does, I had a friend organize a complete da and night for me once, starting off by meeting in a cafe for breakfast, a walk through the park to a beautiful shop with a spring flower display, then to the movies after that lunch then we went back to my place where he said I had to change into showing wild and showy, we then went in the city for dinner and then to see the midnight show of the musical hair...it was a wonderful day... but you don't have to go to those extremes... good luck.

Wow, i like that idea. I miss him since we are on a long distance relationship. I think that one day-whole tour would be great. Thanks!

Make sure you don't tell him what is going to happen, just tell him how to dress so to speak and lead him through a wonderful journey that he will remember...

Hi shellster!
I have the same dilemma. I don't know what to give my boyfriend. I know his hobbies and interest. He likes reading DC comics and owing gadgets. Those are very pricey. I cannot afford them especially the gadgets.
So I am thinking now of making something that I personally will create. I think something that is not bought out from somewhere is a nice idea.
Though up to now I am still thinking of what to do. A hand-made pillows with our pictures is what's lingering on my mind right now....

Hi! nice to know i have a buddy here that's still on the way and thinking. =)
I dont go for pictures since men (from my own point of view) doesn't like that kind of thing. I would suggest you give him some scrapbook thing that has your photos and your personal message. I tried this one and he really appreciates it. Anyway, its the effort that always count. Right?

Hi shellster! What does he like to do that maybe you do not? An activity of some sort, maybe watching football or any sport that you and he don't do together? How about giving him a "free pass" for something like that? You could agree to make his snacks, maybe watch a bit with him, etc. Or fishing? Get him a gift certificate to a sporting goods store. Of course a card and put the free pass/certificate inside. Does he play video games? You might try making a list of what you know he likes or talks about the most. The last gift I gave my honey was a gift certificate to amazon, he bought a crossbow. Who knew? Good luck.

Hi! I like your idea too. Activities are fun right? And the gift certificate would just be a bonus. Thanks!

Well, I can not say what men appreciate. Before I made this response I asked my husband what he wants as a gift. Maybe he thought that I was going to give him a gift, his answer was, "I don't want a gift." But I insisted that he should answer for the sake of my response to this discussion. What he said is that he likes nike shoes. From this, I can say that you know your boyfriend more than we do so you know what are his likes and dislikes. I guess you have to observe what he needs at this time too. Then if you can see what he needs and likes that's the time that you will decide on what to give him.

Men are like children happy with all kind of "toys" and expensive stuff to show off to their friends.
With what you can make your bf happy with depends on your bf. Since he is your bf you can be the only one who knows what he likes the most. I only hope he will invest as much in you as you will in him. Since many find it normal you give them everything and you take care of them.
And if you really don't know ask his family/other friends.

You could write a cute, lovely letter. You could express your feelings towards him exactly in this letter.
