I know in this movie the country club owner has a bad perception of Johnny and thinks he stole the members wallets. Baby's dad didn't like him because he wasn't good enough for his daughter. Both of those very bad perceptions! Have you ever had someone perceive you wrong? Or are you more likely to do it to someone else?

This had to do a lot with what was the ethics of the time. Class divisions were bigger then so someone from a lower class had more posibilities of being called a thief. And Baby`s dad wanted someone from his own class for her daughter.

Max Kellerman (club owner) - possibly disliked Johhny because of his rebellious nature, because he was young and because he was poor. Baby's dad didn't like Johnny for the same reason, plus he didn't get off on the right foot with him because of the whole misunderstanding with Robbie. I believe that all the time there is racism, sexism, class elitism and homophobia in the world everyone will perceive everybody in a way they do not wish to be perceived. I think that people do it without even realising half the time. Everyone has their ''ideal'' match for a circumstances, like a boss the ideal candidate for a job, or a teacher for a student...when you're challenged in any way I believe you're more likely to do it too. We are humans and despite having languages and mouths to speak we still don't manage to communicate efficiently, crazy! I've had people perceive me as dangerous for being a redhead, like many people write off blondes for being supposedly dumb.
