Hi, I'm applying to a summer study abroad program, and I need help getting ideas on how to raise money. The tuition and the plane ticket for the program cost about $6000 total, plus I need another $250 in the next few weeks to get my passport. This program is a total immersion language program for high school students (I'm a senior! Woot!) to help them learn Spanish, German or French while staying in the host country with a host family for 7 weeks during the summer while taking classes in the language and being totally committed to not speaking English for the duration of the stay in the host country. I am really committed to doing this, and I've applied for several jobs with no luck. Does anyone have any tips as to how I could raise or earn the money to go? If I'm accepted into the program, the first payments are due in late February 2012.
FYI - I'm a Spanish student, and I would either be travelling to Spain or Mexico for the language, with Mexico's costs being somewhat cheaper. However, I need to be prepared to study in Spain because I will not find out where I will be going until after the application process.
Thanks for the help!

Hi I must say that you are trying to do a great thing by doing study abroad it is a great experience. One thing you could do is try to get sponsorship or do fundraisers to help raise the money that you need. Also I have a great site that you can start doing with no out of pocket cost that can help you at least getting some of the money. I must be honest and tell you that you will not make it overnight but you need to atleast put in an effort to try to get close to what you need. I love this site and here it will explain everything.Go to http://cashtexts.com/by/mastermind

I don't really know how to help you out. That's kind of big money to raise in a short term. Don't your school have a program that will partly sponsor you study? I think schools should offer something like that to advance the knowledge of their student.

I would suggest that you'll go for sponsorship. I guess there are schools who are offering for that. And if you are close to your families and cousins, maybe it would be a good idea to solicit from them. Just tell them the purpose of going abroad and i'm sure they will try to help you as much as they can. You might also apply for a part time job or if you have old goodies that you don't use, then, go for a garage sale. I hope this would help. Good luck in your endeavor:)
