I only have a desktop computer at home. I don't own a laptop. Some people say that desktop computers are better than laptop because once your laptop gets damage, it's hard to find some replacement parts. It's a bit expensive. Which one do you prefer?

well we also have a desktop at home but i still prefer laptops...i have my own and its truly convenient on my parts especially that im a students and i use it every now and then for school...and also i can bring it anywhere i go so i can do my paper works and surf the net as well...and for me if you will just be careful and take good care of your laptop, nothing to worry about of once it will be damaged!!

Yes, laptop is very convenient and you can take it anywhere you are. Laptop is very important nowadays for students. It will help them make their projects done early. That is one of the advantages of laptop over desktop. Thank you for sharing your opinion about this topic. Happy mylotting!

I don't want to choose. I have both desktop computer at home and a laptop. Thanks for my parents for giving me these. Both are very helpful to me. With my desktop computer, I can use this when I am going to burn dvds. With my notebook laptop, I can use it in my studies and presentations. It's very handy too.

I appreciate your response cearn25. I think you can also burn dvds using a laptop. Right? What I like about desktop computer is that I feel comfortable on playing games. These two computers have their own advantages and disadvantages. Sometimes it's hard to choose between the two.

As most people talk about the portability and mobility as the two big plus points, our friend luntian_grace raised a good point. Had he not raised it, I would have spoken about it either way. Yes, it is right that the laptops and notebooks consume lesser power than the old days desktop computers. I have both of them, by the grace of god. But I am using only my laptop for the past couple of years. I have hardly even touched my desktop computer.
As far as the question of the parts getting damaged and all that, I have yet to hear it from anyone about such an incident. I mean, there are so very less chances of a part getting damaged. There is a high quality of manufacturing these days so it is preferable to use laptop than the desktop PC.

I think you are right. But if your laptop gets damage, it's quite expensive compared to desktop computers. I think energy consumption should also be considered on choosing which one is better. Not just about portability. I appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

I think desktop computer is good. I tell so because, If your laptop display has come problem (no display or any other problem) it costs much to repair it but in case of a desktop it costs only less as compared to laptop. So i think it is good to prefer desktop computers.

You have a point there. Most desktop parts are available in store. You won't be having a hard time finding them. You have contributed good idea. This is helpful to me.

I prefer desktop computers when I need more time working on something. I pity laptops or notebooks when I work on something too long since laptop sometimes overheat. The only thing good about laptops is that it can be brought anywhere, but unlike it, desktop computers store more files than those laptops or notebooks.

Thanks reallysunny for sharing this information to us. I think many laptops now can save more files too. Above the overheat issue, I get scared if a laptop overheats, it makes me think that it will get damage if too much using. But with desktop, I don't feel the same way. I feel much safer.

Yes that is what I heard before. Actually, I am planning to buy a new system unit for my desktop this coming December. I also want to buy a laptop. But due to some comments about laptop, I am quite confuse which one I should prefer.

That is the best thing about laptop. No matter where you are, you can take it with you. Unlike desktop computers, you can't bring it anywhere. You just leave it at home. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I prefer a laptop because they are much more mobile and today, mobility is extremely efficient! I have nothing against the PC because I may play games or do PC like things but laptops are so much cooler, especially when they have webcams! Then you can transport them practically anywhere and do your work, or conversate, or just sure the net! If I could carry my PC around, trust me I would, but its just too impossible!

It's impossible to carry your PC around. Lol. I prefer playing games using desktop than laptop. I feel more comfortable with it than using a laptop. I think most of the computer shops nowadays are selling more laptops than desktop. Many people prefer laptop over desktop computers.

I prefer Desktop computer rather than laptop/notebook. I love to modification my computer hardware, upgrading it, and change the type. I can not do that with laptop. I love my computer, so i don't think i need laptop or notebook now.

You got a point there. It is easier to upgrade your hardware if you are using a desktop computer. I think it is quite uneasy and expensive for you to upgrade your laptop. You can't do it on your own. You have to call for a technician to do it for you.
