I have been fighting these all of my life now, the high anxieties I am told through therapy is from the depression too or a symptom of it anyway. My depression gets much worse in the Winter and gets much better come Spring so I know it is Seasonal too. The anxieties come on stronger in situations of fear like in the case of driving and I find it so hard to focus or even breath well at all. My meds. help a little but not enough at times of any real stress. I know there are real therapy practices to help with ridding one's self of these terrible anxieties more I just don't know enough of them you can use in an everyday event like driving or being in the woods or other fearful situations of life as well. If you have any good working suggestions here please feel more than free to let me know. Thanks,A.B.

There are several different therapies that may help, if you haven't already tried them. Vitamin D therapy (if you are vitamin D deficient) has been found helpful. I take it daily and find that my mood changes very little with the changing seasons. Lightbox therapy to replace the daylight your system is missing in the wintertime. Have you tried either of these?

Hi laceylinks, I actually have been using a light box now for two Winters and I just love mine too. The vitamin D is given to me by my doctor since I am low on this too. I find when I move away from my light box it actually feels a bit like stepping into the sadness again like all my sunshine was just pulled away from me just like that too. A wonderful invention these light boxes they are very comforting and relaxing too have helped a bit with my anxiety levels even too at times. I just wish I could talk my Mother into getting one too, may have to be a gift. Thanks,A.B.

You are experiencing seasonal depression, also known as seasonal affective disorder (SAD). It is a mood disorder in which people with normal mental health throughout most of the year experience depressive symptoms in the winter or summer, spring or autumn year after year. It may be better to consult a doctor to help you on ways of dealing with this and eventually beat this depression.

I have been told this is what I have before, I do have some therapy and meds. available to me for this very serious problem as well. I am considering talking to my doctor about a med. change of some kind for me to help out more during this tough time of year for me too. Thanks,A.B.
