ABS-CBN or GMA?

Philippines

Among the many channels, especially if you are a cable subscriber, there are always two which are most watched and which are considered rival networks - they are the ABS-CBN and GMA. I am used to watching ABS-CBN because the actors and actresses there are more familiar to me than the other channel. There are also shows in GMA that I like such as Pinoy Henyo and Bubble Gang. Which of the two that you like best?

In my opinion , I would prefer ABS-CBN , because their actors and actresses are really improving in terms of acting, singing, dancing and hosting. All i can say ABS- CBN make their artists into a better one and they can produce a quality programs..

Yes, except that they always have new faces or stars that they seem to forget about their original mainstays. I can see some of them going to the other side although I am not sure if they have become contracts there. Anyway, thank you for the response. Happy weekend!

Oh you like Willy. He's a good host, yes, but he's always reprimanded because of being rude sometimes. I hope he will change for the better. Yes, TV5 is also a good channel and it is where those from ABS and GMA meet and work together.

Well, other stars are going to Tv5 station when their contracts are finished. NO projectsoffer thats why some of them chose to go another station. Tv5. It's a quiet popular station since Willy Revillame going there and open a new show a former host of WOWOWEE in ABS-CBN before. Wowowee is popular here our country and even in ABROAD. Willie is good host and love to help people. his show has big prizes thats why many viewer. and he likes to give money . lol thats why he's really popular.. Happy weekend too

Hello neelia_lyn, I can say that I am a kapamilya or I watch ABS-CBN shows more often than the shows of GMA. But like you, I enjoy watching shows like Pinoy Henyo and Bubble Gang. Basically, those are the only shows that I watch at GMA and I think nothing can beat that already because they have a mark in the industry. But when it comes to the talent of the artist, the teleseryes, I like kapamilya shows over the other. I am not even updated with their teleseryes. Take care and happy mylotting red_amethyst

Hi red_amethyst :) It would also be nice GMA's teleseryes but I am not used to them because their talents are not familiar to me, except those who have come from the other side. Anyway, whatever our preferences are as long as we enjoy them, then good! Thank you for sharing!

I watched more GMA programs especially when it comes to updates of the latest news. I'm also entertained at night watching soap operas aired in ABS. I would rather choose both channels because I'm actually watching their programs. I'm the kind of person who always switch channels that depends on the programs.

Sometimes I do that, too. There are programs in ABS that we like and so with GMA. It's nice to switch channels as long as the shows we want to watch in both channels are not aired at the same time. But for me, most of the time I stay tuned to ABS. Thanks for the reply :)

I have no particular pereference between the two networks but I have preference on the content of the show. When it comes to noontime show I think I am for GMA I love Eat Bulaga show. When it comes to news I am 50-50 with them since sometimes GMA can bettter deliver the news but there are times the ABS delivers faster than GMA and there are times that news reporters are really good in sourcing information. When it comes from teleserye I choose ABS since recently they have shifted to a values oriented tv series which I like since it creates a thought provoking tv series.

You are so right! Noon time show is Eat Bulaga for me especially the Pinoy Henyo part, but I switch to AXN afterward to watch Wipeout. I agree with everything you said. Thank you!

Yeah, they're pitted as rival networks being that they're the two biggest ones in our country. I mean, the other networks are really not yet to the level of these two. Although RPN9 used to be among the Top 3. But I rarely watch programs on either of these two except the news portion. I'm more inclined to watching the cable programs.

It's because the quality of their shows is not as good as before and they constantly have new stars or faces that are easily forgotten because they are not also as good as the ones before. Luckily, we have cable channels to choose from. Thank you, beamer :)

Back when I was till dependent on the local channels, GMA 7 was the only one that was blaring on my TV all day long. It may just be me, but the newscasts at GMA seems to be more authentic and truthful compared to the rival network. I wake up to Unang Hirit, the morning variety show and end the day with news. It's news-only channel GMA News TV is also a great alternative to all the other local TV channels out there, at least according to my preference.

Personally, I like cable or the internet more. I have never been a fan of local television programming because of rehash stories and I don't care about rivalry between so-so actors and actress (if they really can act) or other celebrities. Usually, I;m more into streaming TV in the internet. However, the program '100 days to Heaven" and 'My Binondo Girl' are my current favorite to tune into since I have been taking a time off from my work. When it comes to news, I take it from the Inquirer. Too much drama on TV. At least with the paper, I have time to sink the news in and be reflective about it. SO basically, I don't subscribe to both stations. Good thing about democracy is that you can always have third or another choice.

Yeah, there's too much drama on TV but it's one source of entertainment. I agree that with newspapers, you can sink the news in. Of all the things, sometimes there is one or two that we prefer over all the others. Happy mylotting!

I don't have to choose which of the two channels are the best. Because both channels excel in different ways. The rivalry between the two is just for the ratings. But in fact I know they are just doing it for business.

Of course, they are both best in their own ways but most of the time there is one we prefer over the other. Thank you for the opinion, cheers!

I understand, svjomboy. I do watch different channels even if I don't know the people behind them, but with the two big networks in our country, there is one that most prefer :) Thanks for the response!

For local channels, I prefer ABS-CBN. Their primetime shows like May Bukas Pa, 100 Days to Heaven to name a few are really well made, hearth warming and good values are imparted to the viewers. What you pay for the electricity is not wasted on the said shows :)

I do agree with what you said. I watched their shows mostly at night but during daytime whenever I have time, I watch other channels. Thanks again for the response!
