So I have been contributing online via care2 and ecology fund with time and clicks and redeemed credits to various organisations in the last year. More recently I have dedicated my time to WWF Romania, after finding out that I can !. I always thought that it will have to first do something else, contribute as a volunteer in many places and only after that be able to join someone as big as the World Wide Fund. I managed to activate as a volunteer since October in the campaign for protecting Our Virgin Forests (that represent over 65% of Europe's Virgin Forests). I have gathered signatures for WWF in Ikea Bucharest and was disappointed with many ignorant people, but there were some who understood that the environment is our future. N.B.: Virgin forests are even rarer then Old Growth Forests as man has not intervened in them and they are the most remote and untouched and unspoiled of forests. Other than This I have just been invited by dr. Kerry Kruger to be the link between Romania and savethefrogs.com (America's first and only public charity dedicated to amphibian conservation) after helping out with votes for the chase competition. The competition is still on and the prizes are 250.000$ for 1st place, 100.000$ for 2-5th place and 25.000 for 6-100th place. Last time i checked it was in top 20 so if you want to help just visit the site, or search chase on FB My questions are: 1)Have you ever volunteered ? If yes what for ? 2) Would you be interested to volunteer, what for ?

When my children were growing up I volunteered at their school 2 days a week, that helped the school do things they could otherwise not afford to pay someone to do. The kids liked me being there and I enjoyed all the children and teachers. Now my children are grown and I am physically unable to volunteer. But there is a survey place where, if you don't qualify for the survey, you can either play an instant win game or donate 10ยข to the Red Cross or a conservation fund. I choose to donate. I also write checks each month to a local charity and one that helps paralyzed soldiers. I wish I could do more but I don't have the money or the physical fitness to do so. Still, at least I'm helping a little. I admire you for helping out and making this a better world. All that survives of our lives are what we leave behind us--the good or bad we do and the memories of us that people retain. It's up to us to leave the world a little better than we entered it.

Hello my dear dragon ! I remember about the veteran soldiers you were helping - is it the same one ? Because I remember you were disappointed the last time you wanted to donate there as they were disrespectful when you did not have at some point time to help. Now I don't want to see you leave mylot but you might also like care2.com if you have the time for it, as you have various ways to earn butterfly credits there that you can transform into donations to various organisations (including ASPCA and others) without using money on your behalf. Also if you have a Facebook account you can vote for savethefrogs in the chase competition , would appreciate it :D

Thank you, I will look at those sites! I'm always looking for ways to give for free because my funds (like so many others!) are limited. No it is not the same one. But those rude people called the other day, their annual plea for money. I hung up on them, as they did me last year. I give to Paralyzed Veterans of America, a good charity that gets more than 90% of the money donated to those they are raising it for. A lot of charities only give 70% or even less of what they collect.

You are definitely right, it is indeed a great step that you have taken and certainly something that you should be proud of. I wish that many more will follow your footstep considering that its is indeed a worthy cause. In my case, I have joined a rescue group as a volunteer. That was during the year 1992 when I was still in my 2nd year of college. I was so happy with what I do so and so that when I graduated on my college course, I decided to concentrate on rescue. I have stayed in the group for more than 13 years. The great thing about it is that being with rescues, it gives you a chance of saving people's lives.

i was a teacher volunteer some years ago, and I liked a lot, I couldn't continue going because the place was very far away from my house and sometimes I didn't have money even to buy food, less to pay for passage to get there. Now I am thinking on to be a volunteer in the Salvation Army, for their work on holidays. What you do is very important and I congratulate you for that. Great discussion.
