Bed was calling, but the Muppets came first!

So, I was sitting at my desk, eating my stir-fry (that I did 85% of the work on) and looking at my email, responding to mylot and playing Gardens of Time on the nonpaying competition. When, what before my wondering eyes should appear, but an offer for free tickets on Freecycle to a sneak of the new Muppet movie! I quick IMed the roommate and asked if she'd like to see it. She asked "When?" I replied "Tonight" It was almost 6 p.m. and the movie was to start at 7. We quick finished up eating, she changed into warmer clothes, because its one thing to sit around the house in shorts and a teeshirt, but quite another to go out in the cool night in shorts... she still wore a teeshirt, but it was under her jacket. I crammed the frying pan in the NEW fridge and ran around getting stuff for her - putting the dogs out, etc. 10 minutes later we were in the car and headed to the theater. Now, the theater is only like 15 minutes away, but there was traffic on the highway so it was more like 20 minutes. By 6:30 I had found the lady with the tickets and we were in line. Now, it could've been boring, but there was this cute little girl behind us who told us all about how she knew the Muppets, and how she build sand castles on a trip to Florida, and ... Well, it could've been a boring wait in line, instead it was an entertaining visit with a little girl and her father. She did most of the talking, Dad just encouraged her. NOW, about the movie... It was fun! It was lots of fun. And, like any good story, the heroes have to reach the low before they can win. The villain is despicable and, don't ya know, his "song" is a rap! "Tex" Richman, played by Chris Cooper, was great evil foil for the Muppets. I hate to spoil the movie for y'all, so I'll say no more, but the line had more adults than children, and while the kids will love the traditional Muppet lines, the adults will be taken back to their younger days when it was time for "The Muppet Show Tonight!" (By the way, because I didn't get paid - AGAIN - I couldn't get the roomie anything for her birthday, so she says I'm off the hook now for getting her tickets to the Muppet movie a week early!) oh, let me add here, that... FREECYCLE ROCKS!!!!

Well I want to see the movie but will wait. Don't have the money to waste quite yet! So glad you found that on freecycle, very nice good deal! Glad that you semi liked the movie? You know anything that's remade, there will be many more adults then kids!

oh, we really liked it, but the Muppets were "after my time" sort of. Sure, I enjoyed them, but I wasn't a kid when they first arrived on the scene - like the roomie

Not getting paid stinks, free tickets rock. I know it was fun time out of the house. Time for bed now, I bet.

I was out running around for my client on Thursday but getting to see a movie that I knew the roomie would enjoy was special, especially since it was FREE!

Great that you managed to get a night out as an unplanned freebie! I'd love to be able to do spontaneous stuff like that in the evenings, but I tend to work most evenings and would miss out as freecycle's not that big where I am..

I was off Thursday and Friday because my client is in the hospital, so it was nice that it was free.

I like the muppets when my children were growing up. I remember when one year both my little girls did not want an easter bunny in their basket they each wanted a blue Cookie Monster.LOL So I went and got them each a stuffed blue Cookie monster that sat outside their easter baskets. Have to admit it really added some color to the picture from all the pastels!

These were the Muppet show muppets and not the Sesame Street muppets, but the roomie's youngest nephew was gaga over Elmo when he was young (he's now nearly 20)
