In my opinion there could be two problems. The first could be because of virus. Some computer virus could make our computer turn bad. They can make our computer error or shutting down by it self. You could try to scan your computer with updated antivirus to see if it was caused by virus or not. If it can't be fixed then the last resort is by re-installing your operating system. I usually do this when my computer is attacked by a troublesome virus. The second could be because your computer is too old already. Well in this case i usually have the same problem with you too. Sometimes my computer restarting it self when i'm doing some work with it. It is very anoying but it couldn't be helped since it is an old computer.

Well, if you already re-installing your computer and the shutting down still happens it means it got nothing to do with virus. It probably has something to do with the hardware of your computer. It is a common problems with old computer like ours. I've been tried to service my computer at computer service and they say that it happened because of errors in my mainboard/motherboard. They suggest me to replace it with a new one but it cost quite a lot of money. So decided not to replace it and take my computer home and re-formatted it myself. Well after that my computer only shutting down on its own sometime.

there are misconceptions about viruses and we tend to blame them for everything. Your problem is simple- your CPU is getting overheated and is getting switched off as a preventive measure. If you are using Desktop, open your side covers and place the CPU in horizontal position. This should solve it. I would not suggest buying a new fan but if you can buy a good atleast 90mm fan. Also clean your PC parts thoroughly. If you are using Laptop, go and buy a Laptop cooler. Hope this solves your problems

It can be a virus.Try installing an anti-virus program and check your computer for viruses. That can help! :)

Try to unplug and re-plug your RAM.If not worked then borrow RAM from friends and then see what happens?

I think it may be a problem with the power source or it may be one of your components that gets too hot and that makes your computer to restart.Try to install everest and run a 3d app on window mode and take a look at the temperatures and maybe you will discover the problem.I don`t think it`s from hard drive .

Can you hear any continues beep sounds while restarting? If there is a continuous beep sound may be it is due to the problem of any of your hard drive. Or else your computer may be effected by any virus. Install a good antivirus and have a complete scan.

What OS are you using? Have you made any recent changes like install or upgrade a new program or driver? What were you doing when the rebooting started? Does this problem persist when booting into Safe Mode? It could be a wide range of problems -- incompatible software or hardware, processor overheating, faulty RAM.

If safe mode does not work, you can also try removing your hard disk and then place it within an enclosure and have it scanned. While doing the scan, you might also want to clear the inside of your computer of any dust. Too much accumulation of this also causes it to restart frequently. It affects the memory and temperature. Formatting would be the last resort for me. Hope your computer gets fixed :)
