Discussions Today are not the Same as Discussions Before

Pages - I'm wondering if mylot users before are as active as mylot users now because in what I have observed, the discussions before can reach an average of ten pages while discussions now can't even barely reach five pages.

I have noticed that mylot members before are so much active unlike now. I always see discussions from years ago that go on until 19pages and all of the responses are sensible! On the other hand, I seldom see discussion now that can reach up to five pages. What do you think could be the reason for this? Are we running out of ideas for good, sensible discussions? What are your opinions?

I think that there are many mis-informed users among the newer ones who seem to think that starting their own topics, without commenting on the responses, and/or just responding without commenting if their responses receives a comment, is enough in order to earn. Then there are those who can't be bothered to read through pages and pages of responses before posting their own. Isn't it a sign of the times? Everything immediately without any effort? Just that it doesn't create earnings if that is how they use myLot. They only get paid for quality and the more they particpate in ongoing topics, then the more they will see their earnings add up. Of course if they don't try then they won't know

I think before members have to much to say about discussions because members can relate to the topic and it is general to all and everybody can respond to it. And maybe there are more active members before that really devote their time to mylot. But now Discussions can't go up to 5 pages because the topics we create now are not really known to everybody and we are running out of topics here that is general to all because it has been posted before and if we post it again it might just be deleted. And also lots of members now here are not that active like before.

I have to disagree because in my opinion even the new topics could be discussed at length but users are now lazier thanh before and can't bebothered to read through previous pages before posting their own response. What they seem to be unaware of os that while reading the responses they could add their own comments to them and earn by doing so.

Yes you are right, all the practical questions in which everybody can relate have already been asked years before. But I do believe we still have enough to talk about these days, maybe we are just not as 'hard working' as members before.

Lara... It is bound to happen.. With the growing popularity of myLot, the no of members will increase and we'll need to take all kinds of them... Not all of them are sensible, are they? And not all of them are responsible either, so they write anything; like they begin their discussions with a poll question... LOL... Or else, they simply write for the sake of it, to increase the no of posts... That's why so many meaningless comments coming up our way... :(... It is sad, but as I said, it is bound to happen.. Very soon, there will come a stage where the Admin will have to set some criteria for becoming a member here... hope, it comes sooner...

I think that in years or even months past people were not so much in the need of the money and thus were more interested in the discussions. Now though more people come here to try to make a little bit of money for whatever reason, and thus don't try. Of course this could be a phase as I've seen this before, I've been here for about four years now. I'm on here for the friendships and the advice, but also for a little extra spare change. I used to be on here for the money itself but also tried to bring a bit of flavor to the site. Now I don't try as hard as I don't have the time between work and trying to get things done at home.

Like the dolphin user said maybe morale is low and also maybe ideas are running short too! I seldom find a good idea I can talk about that hasn't already been posted or said, and I don't like to repeat discussions. Also, there's a bunch of users here who don't give quality responses anymore and the discussions starters are unable to continue to expand the discussion. I don't know the real reason to this loss in activity but I do hope it increase because myLot is an awesome opportunity!

yes, i guess. more mylotters are not active already, especially those that are vry good in making discussions. I really admired those mylotters i have encountered with before(years ago) as they always have great ideas and topics that would be interesting to alot of people here. :D

Chiyosan! You're from the 'active era' of mylot! Tell me, what makes you stay here for such a long time? I wish I have been a part of that era. It would be such a nice thing to interact with those people who have great ideas.

Hi! You are right upto an extent. There are less lengthy discussions now a days than it used to be in past. May be due to increase in number of members, quality of discussions has affected.

It might be. However, we cannot do anything about that since Mylot is open for everyone. Whether you're from US or Asia or whether you speak good English or not you are welcome here. It can be a good and at same time a bad thing sometimes.

@Lara - You are right that it is an open platform and no one could be compelled to come again and again. @Mys - your idea per se is not bad but many mylotters appear in their off line activities.

I always am able to find good quality discussions here and many from older members. I will agree that I have to sift through a lot of lame and junk discussions to find those. I don't think it is that people are not creating good discussions but rather that those good discussions get kind of buried in amidst the junk.It is impossible to run out of topics because the world is always changing and new things are always happening.

hi Laratecson I think its just that right now its close to thanksgivine and christmas and too here in the US we have not got as lot to be cheering about and writing perfect discussions when a lot of mylotters from the US are still jobless. being jobless does a number on your morale and now specially with Christmas on the horizon some are not happy mylotters . but hopefully a new year is coming and things will be better economically for us in the US I dont think for one moment we are running out of ideas for good sensible discussions or some more cheerful discussions either. this discussion happens about this time every year here.also a lot of you new comers come here with out of this world expectations of making your fortune on mylot.come down to earth, accept that you will not get super rich but will make a nice income to add to your basic income and also realize that making friends and sharing and caring are more important than just money.

I was thinking the same thing a moment ago! Well, sort of. I was thinking maybe since US is experiencing recession, people would want a faster way to earn money. Anyway, I really hope your economy would find its way back. I feel bad for those who got laid off and somehow our country is also experiencing the effects of what's happening to you since we have investments there.

I personly have not noticed this but it could be we do not have as many good things to bring up or maybe it is that since there are so many new people here people arent as close with as many people.

I also noticed that Lara. I think that's because there's so much members now unlike before. And since myLot has been here for a long time, the old members are not participating with the familiar discussions that has been discussed before. Sometimes it's really hard to come up with interesting and sensible discussions too. Some have made themselves focused only on replying on easy ones just for the sake of earning.

We are so many yet only few of us are really active when it comes to participating in discussions. New members might have been disappointed on their initial earnings so they stop using the site instead of trying to become more active. You're right, we might be more focused on earning money so we don't care if we make sense or not. I just wish we can bring Mylot back to life.

"Some have made themselves focused only on replying on easy ones just for the sake of earning." "we might be more focused on earning money so we don't care if we make sense or not." MyLot pays for quality. Just posting on 'easy' topics and posting just for the sake of earning will NOT earn for us and if users are doing that then they will not see the benefits because their earnings will not increase.

hello mysdianait, I agree with you that's why as much as possible I try to give quality (I hope) comments to people's discussions. But I still notice some people writes one liners or just repeating what other people has commented. So far I am happy with my daily earnings.

Hi Lara! I like the information that I gather through this discussion. I am just curious about some things though if I ask them, I might digress on the topic a little bit. But I really wanna ask, (hehe), how did you know about how discussions before were conducted. I see in your profile that you just started a month ago so I really wonder how/what you mean by "before" as before. I mean, I just wanna know how you were able to see the older discussions. Did you check the profile of the veteran members and see their posted discussions? I assume now (as I write this) that you had another account before? Anyway, it might not be relevant to the main point of your discussion but I really can't help asking things when I am curious about them. Just like what Aja replied, I am also new to this site so I cannot really tell the difference between old and new discussions. Good day to you mylotter friend! :)

I found about this while I was using the mylot search engine. I am trying to find an answer for a certain question and I've seen this discussion from three years ago that have many responses. It was ten pages I think. I thought it is just the only discussion that reached many pages but when I tried searching for more old discussion, I have noticed that almost all of them has at least ten pages of responses. Try doing this if you have time. Oh start with this, I was amazed by this discussion since it reached 19 pages and it's just a practical question: www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2112052.aspx?p=1

Oh wow, I never thought jeans could be such an interesting topic ^_^ But really, now I am a bit interested about how many times people wash their jeans. I will also search for old discussions myself and check how they differ from today's discussions. Thanks for the idea Lara! You have a good night :)
