In our family, each member has computer or Laptop, there is nothing to boast, this is common these days, but we are allowed to use one anothers’ if there is some problem. In my pc, I have some files, documents in word format and PDF, I consider them as personal, would not like others to see. Will any body tell me, how to protect them with a password? Please help and guide me. Do you use any such password for your files and documents? Please comment and share your valued opinion.Kalyani 20/11/11 God bless you

It's really common now, our family each has our own laptops too. And when my brother's hard disk crashed he uses my laptop too. I can't find a way to put a password on a folder but we can however, put each of the document a password one by one. You can do when you're saving it and go to Tool General Options then you can key in the password you want.

Each of us people has different private and secret documents and it is really not easy to protect it. Now a days we have many software in our market to lock the folders and local disk. I think you can buy them. Keep all your secret files in a single folder and lock them with the software. Folder Lock and Ilock are the some of the software you can make use of to lock the folders.

I used to have different logons for different people on my computers but my brother would get upset with that because he didn't believe in keeping things private so I stopped doing it. Most things didn't bother me because they were on websites that had passwords. Were you able to get this resolved? Have a great weekend!!!

Hide your files on your computer and in the Folder Options, choose the option which says not to show hidden files. Whenever you need your personal files, you can uncheck the option which says not to show hidden files and access your files. Otherwise, you can create a "Guest" user account and protect your account with a password and ask other users to use the "Guest" account when they need to. This will protect your "Documents" folder and your stored settings from being accessed. Guest accounts cannot access the PC much and can only be used for basic purposes. :)

I understand your situation Kalyniji. We face the same problem. I rarely use papa's laptop, but papa uses my desktop quite often. I wish I had a solution. I dont.
