It sounds like the wife and the husband have two different parenting styles. Firm language should be enough and no violence should be taught. Time out is a valuable way to get a child to think about what he or she did wrong. Caning a child would be wrong. The couple should become better at communicating. The wife does not agree with violence.

Well, it depend how heavy that father punished her/his children. Because there are father or parents punished their children with no self-control and inflicted their children with no love or careful actions... If you punished your children and want to correct them but wife always opposed and protect them. You need to talk with your wife in such case not to decide in divorcing wife. Because such thinking is not good and narrow minded...

Hi Bula, basically such situations arise in every marriage where husband and wife don't see eye to eye on matters concerning their children and most of the time it is to do with disciplining ! However, caning a child is not advisable at all since it can easily become a habit and has far reaching consequences in the future - talking to her and trying to build a rapport with her is any say better for everyone concerned .I am sure that the wife's reaction was made on the spur of the moment and it is better to take it that way and try to talk her out of it.I am sure that effective communication solves almost all inter personal problems - all the best and happy mylotting

i think mother is just concern about what kind of punishment the father will give to his daughter..

thats not a reasonable idea wife a re filling a devorce because of deciplinning his daughter,that is a normal for a father to deciscipline...
