It is a different matter here on mylot where I accept all friend requests, but I don't do the same on Facebook.I accept only those well known to me or at least with whom I have interacted for a considerable length of time . But, I see many members having hundreds of friends and most of them are unknown to them.Is it just because people want to show they are popular by being able to show hundreds of friends on their profile(only) ...when one of my facebook friends makes a suggestion I make it a point to ask them if they know the person and , I am surprised at times when they say no...

If your an internet marketers. You can't refuse to accept all people who request you to be their friends.
But if your only a regular users of facebook. I think you need to be choosy on how you manage your profile in facebook...
For me I accept all request and suggestion because my purpose in facebook is to have more friends as I used facebook is my promotional site...to all of my online programs

That makes sense ! You need to have more contacts when you are promoting stuff on the internet. In my case, I use it mainly for article promotion and also for socialising to a certain extent , so I am happier with fewer friends - thanks a lot aerous for sharing your views and all the best

Hi derek, what you say is right ! It is good to know new people and if there is an opportunity, interact with them....On Facebook I had some problem with a couple of people who I accepted ,they started posting all sorts of fanatic religious messages on my wall, of course I did delete them, but the damage was done, after which I am careful about accepting friends - thanks a lot for your response and happy mylotting

No, I am often warned by some unknown user, but I do not always approve of the friendship Unless this person has some friends in common with me.

My basic rule in adding & accepting friends in Facebook is ACCEPT & ADD THOSE WHO I ONLY KNOW..... Because it will be so hassle in my part reading & seeing those post coming from an unfamiliar/unknown FB friend.....
Aside from that my FB account is not for popularity purpose, it's my one way of knowing the latest updates & happenings of my close friends

Hi kiran,
I'm also choosy for accepting new friends request. I see their profiles. If some of them appear to me as acceptable then I give them positive response. I also entertain new faces of muLot to encourage them. In facebook I do the same as you.

I only accept friend requests from people that I know. I don't really see the point of trying to have hundreds of friends that I never interact with. I guess everybody is different, but that is my opinion.

I Hate those persons that have like 2000-4000 friends on facebook, they don't even now half of them!
Once I asked a friend of mine that had 1500+ friends why he was adding a girl that lived 1000 miles from where I live, he said: "because she's hot!", and I said: Why would she want to add an little kid like you?".
He said that she was very cool and friendly and not a jerk like me because she added every one...
Oh and by the way he was 16, so probably the age is problem..let's hope so.

hi there kiran!
as for me when i started in Facebook i just accept any fiend requests.
it's because i want so many friends in my friend list.
but i started to get sick of it especially when these unknown people chat and ask your number! it surprise me because i barely know them.
now, i have deleted those friends and i keep a number of known or common people i know.
with that my Facebook could be peaceful!

In adding friends on facebook, i do not accept all of suggestinos and requests,
i will try to look the profile of person that suggested to me.
if i think that he/she is a kind person from the first look, i will try accept.
but the most important thing,he/she should have more than 100 mutuals friends with me. it can bea proof that he/she know about me or my friends.
what you have said is rigth, many people just accept friend requests.
they dont think that it will give a bad impact to their facebook,.
if you have too much friends in your facebook, you probably can be banned like my friends.

I only accept those requests who I knew or at least I've met before. I want to see only the people who I know in my list of friends. Facebook is not about collecting people as many as you can. I think the purpose of Facebook is to make it easy to communicate to your friends and family. This is just my opinion. Happy mylotting!

Facebook is going on increasing with number of fake id's. A guy makes a female id and have some fun by talking to the other guy or a girl makes id by male. I have seen this many times and I recognize them by the style of chatting. I get many friend requests but I add people who I know or who is a mutual friend. Once I added unknown person, he/she messaged me many times but I didn't reply(I was out for a vocation). The next I got to know that my Id was hacked! He/She posted really bad comments and posts, I felt very disappointing for the mistake I did my adding an unknown person. Be careful, never add the one whom you don't know!

Hi Hunter, tanks a lot for your response I agree that it is much safer to add only those who you know or have been recommended or suggested by people known to you. There have been many complaints from members who have had problems on Facebook - all the best and happy mylotting

Also never try to upload real photo or share personal matters, phone numbers in Facebook if you have strangers in your ID, your life may be ruined. It happened many times in India, I don't know about foreign countries it does happen or not. Be careful!
