in my room, stuff from my childhood can still be found. old stuffed toys, dolls, etc. i even have a suitcase full of collectibles of my favorite anime (apparently, i was a paranoid kid and i had that suitcase in the event there's a fire and i would need to run, lol). it's always an adventure going through all those stuff. memories you recall you thought you've forgotten, some that would make you laugh, some that would make you a bit sad. that's why, i figured, i still hang on to them :) what about you guys? do you still have anything of your childhood that you still keep with you? an old blankie perhaps? bottle caps? :)

I never discarded anything from my childhood. All my stuffs like barbie dolls and doll houses and stuff toys are still in my room. I even have paper dolls somewhere in the room. I just can't let go of them. They still look new. They're all in the boxes, I can't even remember playing with them, with the exemption of paper dolls. I love playing it.

:) Not the nappies and whatnots. Only the toys from my childhood. The supposed to be library is converted into a storage room. They are very easy to clean with the use of a vacuum cleaner. The books from the library is in my room. ;P

never? as in never??? :P i just had to ask 'cause, does it mean you still have all you nappies and whatnots? was it you who decided to keep all of them or did your parents started you on it? :) with all that stored at your place, i wonder how long it takes to clean them all? another thing, you must have some pretty big storage place/room :P

I have two small boxes that are completely crammed full of little keepsakes from when I was younger. There's only a couple of stuffed animals that I especially treasured during childhood that have survived various moves, a couple of handkerchiefs, and some toys that I'm debating on giving away since they're just taking up space despite any sentimental value I hold them to. It's a bit nostalgic whenever I look through it all.

Recently i had to make a hard decision, my room was sooo crammed with books and stuffed toy that i had to choose what to let go so i could free some space to move around. My books won so the toys had to except those i really had to hang on :-P How did you choose which stuff to keep?:-)

this part i like much: "stuff is stuff" (i did paraphrase it though so i wonder i bothered with the quotes, lol) i used the same logic as you when i was trying to convince myself to finally let go of my toys: they are better off where kids could actually play with them rather than sitting pretty and gathering dust on the shelf. but it was still hard as almost every piece had a moment i associate it with :P

I learned a long while ago that stuff is just that - stuff. I've parted with a lot of childhood mementos over the years against my will, so getting rid of some of them has become easier. Mostly, if it's something collectible that I foresee having future value, I'll stow it away as a keepsake, or if it gives me really vivid memories I'll hang onto something. I almost always hold onto my stuffed animals because they're so precious to me and it's kind of comforting to have them in my presence. Toys I feel better giving away or selling because I think of the chance of some other kid playing with it and having fun making their own memories with them. It's still difficult to part with anything, though, since they're like an extension of myself.

When I was a little bit younger, I always tried to keep far too many things which I associated with my childhood, like toys and books and things like that, because I thought that I would regret it when I lost them. Then, I realised that your memories are in your head, not in any of the things that you might happen to own. After I made that decision, I threw out or sold a lot of things; however I still have some things like a couple of photos from each year of my life, and also some of my baby clothes from when I was a new born.

to some degree i agree with you; memories can be and are usually better kept close to heart and mind. but the things we do hold on to, manage to be tangible reminders of those memories that at times function in jostling and unearthing of memories buried or long forgotten. or maybe im too sentimental not to mention a pack rat hehe

I have a few stuffed animals I keep in my bedroom. But, other than these, nothing much. My parents have kept some of my childhood books and stuff like that, so it's a bit of a trip down memory lane when I go to their house (which only happens about twice a year, as we don't live in the same city). I love looking through these books and remembering how fascinating I found them all those years ago. It's a bit sad too, as some of the stories seem so childish now, and they were so formidable back then. It's like we've lost something :P.

i think part of your fascination is the fact that you do see them for about two times a year, otherwise, probably it would have less impact? cause i was like that with my teeny bopper diaries, haha. there were times when i was rereading them like crazy then i seem to have forgotten them for like years then when i read them again it was like a whole new story. and yes, there are times when i just shake my head and say those were the times .

First, I would like to say.. you made me laugh I can see how those stuff are important to you and think about rescuing them first Well I still do have those stuff with me. Those stuffed toys. But they're not in a suitcase, I have given them the liberty to stare at me everyday

It's nice to hear that i made someone laugh with my erm...eccentricities? Lol. I tell you, even as a kid, i was a tad paronoid and prone to overthinking. So much so that i remember even practicing if i could carry the said suitcase :-P And my stuffed toys, whats left of them, enjoy their freedom too. Am not that bad to stuff the stuffed toys inside the stu-- i mean suitcase he he

I lived with my mother's oldest sister since I was two so I still have a lot of my childhood stuff in their house back in the province. I brought a lot of things here when I came to live with them here in Cebu, like my pillow and some notebooks and knick-knacks from when I still a wee kid.
