I would probably consider myself to be an evaluative listener, that is, if an evaluative listener is the same as an analytical listener. When I listen, I enjoy learning. So when someone is speaking, I try to ask questions so that I can better understand their perspective and bias.

I think in certain situations our listening is opt to changing. When I listen to a person I really like to have all the details.I try to understand the person and get better knowledge of what it is Im really dealing with.It is good to give people the same respect of listening that you would want them to give you.On the other hand if you knwo what kind of person you are dealing with and especially if their talk is always the same with no meaning or value. Some people like to talk just to have something to say which can turn your listening off. So with that being said Im using an evaluative listener as well. I like to examine certain situations.

Well, mastermind 30, I believe it really depends on the situation.
For an instance, there are some situations where you need to be discriminative and critical while there are some instances where it is important to be appreciative and sympathetic.

I am an attentive therapeutic listener when I am not tired. I can follow the one talking and paraphrase sometimes to clarify the points she/he wanted to convey.
Actually I'm always listening to people's issues, concerns and problems. I see to it that I am in dispose before the dialogue so that I can maintain the objectivity in listening and facilitate solutions that the one talking can do for himself/herself.
It's not an easy task but it's fulfilling especially when I am able to help the one asking for advice.

I did not know that there are lots of kinds of listeners. Hmm.. I think I'm the sympathetic listener. I make sure that I hear every words that person say, I should always make an eye contact and never leave my eyes off her. I would make sure that I stop other activities that I'm doing and just focus on the person. I will hear her feelings about the topic.

Well, I am not really sure what type of listener I am. I love to listen to people and learn from them. However, its a case to case basis but most of the time I listen with empathy and then understand how the other feels. I am also very comprehensive, so really depends.

"Discriminative,Comprehension,Critical,Biased,Evaluative,Appreciative,Sympathetic,Empathetic, Therapuetic,Dialogic,and Relationship"
What's all that means and what's the criteria of all that?
Uhmm.. Maybe I can consider myself as "evaluative" person as I don't trust people's words easily. I have to verify the fact first..

Well mastermind, I have been told many times, and I would have to agree, that I am what you would call a selective listener. I have the uncanny ability to tune out my surroundings and focus on the most entertaining thing happening at the moment. If someone is pouring out their heart and soul to me, and my favorite commercial comes on, my unique ability kicks in and the blubbering person fades into the abyss and the commercial become my entire existence. And I often fade in and out of normal conversations even if nothing else is going on... I am an enigma!
