What do you think of this concept of working for time?

Most of us are aware that we work for money. That means we exchange our time for money to feed ourselves and our families. However, in a book that I have read about getting rich, the millionaire writers, Robert Shemin, advocates the concept of working for time. He says that all rich people use money to buy more time. Such as getting a private jet, so that they do not need to waste time in the airports of both places. The rich are using money to buy time, so that they have more time for their families and themselves. What do you think of this concept?

They say 'Time is money' and I have come to realize it as I started this online earning thing. I had nothing else to do before so I wasted a lot of time. Now I try to find the tiniest of the gaps that I have in my schedule and fill them with earning. So it helps a lot. And as you said the millionaire bought "time". What he meant was, all people have limited time on earth. If I wanted to build a house alone, it would take me around 4 years. If I bought labor, their time that is, it will be completed in much shorter time. There's this movie being made with JT called 'In time'. Nice concept.

Hi, both of you are very hardworking. I do not always make money online when I have the time for it. Sometimes just want to have time off doing nothing. I think when we have more money or our hourly rate is higher, then it makes sense for us to hire someone to do housework while we focus on earning. I also think that watching TV is the worst time waster.

Yah, filling in little snippits of time with work. Why am I awake and doing this a 5:30 in the morning? I fell asleep with the light and the TV on and my laptop still on, on the bed next to me. Not very healthy I know! Also I have a box of left over pizza on the floor next to the bed.

My theory is to exchange time for money when you are young, energetic and have responsibilities.Later on in life u will need money not only to buy time because you might have an established worklife but also to buy other amenities to make life easier because your body might not be that able to go without them.

Hi Mysteryscorpion, yes, that is a good idea. If young people do not exchange time for money, they will still sleep late, and spend the after work hours on entertainment. if they had used the time to upgrade their skills, that would be much better. I think the relationship between time and money is very interesting. Rich people definitely do not want to spend their time washing toilets, since they can hire someone at lower hourly rate to do so.

They have spent all their time making money and so I think they are justified in using that money to buy time now. THis is more justified if the man who really toiled hard to get that uses it. On the other hand, if the hardearned money is to be frittered away by undeserving inheritors or an irresponsible spouse then it is a sad thing.

Hi Kalav, yes, they are buying time with money, so that they can use their time to make even more money. I think when our hourly rate is more than a thousand dollars per month, we are justified to hire others to do work for us. That is why rich people do not waste time cleaning the house or washing cars. They are better off hiring someone else to do it. I think if they are really that smart, they will not marry an irresponsible spouse or teach their children the wrong way.

This is a good concept, provided they are using that extra gained time to spend with their families. Unfortunately, many do not, choosing instead to reinvest that time back into making more wealth.

Hi Tinkerick, it will probably depends on their family circumstances. Those ultra rich will not reinvest to work for more money, since they are already billionaires. They are the ones who do not need to spend time in the office, and they can survive by passive income. If only we have 100 houses for rental, then we can also relax.

Hi Scheng, indeed for those who are rich, their time seems very limited. Because they spend more time into creating wealth. Due to their busy schedule, they always spending their money into buying useful thing. Which in term can helps them save more time, to be spend together with their family. In this way, money do helps in buying more extra time for us to use.

Hi Myfb, I think the rich are not busy at all. Most of them are holding non-executive chairman role in the company, and they are getting paid a lot of money for attending meeting. Looking at the lifestyle of those rich people in Malaysia, and you can see them spending time in the golf course or dinner. it is true that some of them are workaholic, but most are not. I doubt you can say that the sultans in your country have limited time! I think they have more time than most of us anyway.

Hi Nezavisima, yes, most of us do not have time and money. When we get home from work, we still have many things to do at home. if only we have more money, then we can have more time, since we can hire someone to do the cleaning at home. As it is, we have not enough money, and not enough time.
