Personally when this happens it can be quite an annoying thing, and one that every person does in time wish there was an easier cure. I know that they say holding your breath and counting to like 30, drinking warm water, etc. is supposed to help you but there have been times where people have had to try and scare me to help get rid of them as well. Usually most things, just never seem to have the same effect twice.

Hi,this is really annoying. I think all of us once were bothered with this. You know, lots of people here say that if you are scared suddenly, you can recover from your hiccup. But the prerequisite is that you don't know someone will use this method to cure your hiccup. Since so many people know this method, and when they have this problem, they will expect someone to scare them suddenly, and as a result, this method often fail. Well, i think you can try this method if one of your friends has this problem, to see will it be helpful.

My doctor told me before if i get hiccup just drink a glass or two of water while holding your breath for at least a minute. And it works for me. The longer you hold your breath the better. Haahah! Yeah, seriously. But if it doesn't go away or you hiccup frequently, it needs already medical attention.

Funny! I was thinking about writing it earlier coz I just had a moment of hiccups a while ago. But then I thought to write it maybe some other time, but so you did already. What I usually do was to hold my breath. I hold my breath for about a minute or if I can still hold it longer then I would. SOmetimes it don't work so I have to get some paper bag. And blow the bag like you would to a balloon. It's what older people told me. Sometimes it works sometimes it don't. I have never tried or heard about eating sugar or swallowing a piece of breath.

I usually drink water, then after a while it will be gone. If water is not available I hold my breath for a while sometimes it works, sometimes not. I also heard from someone that having someone scare you when you're not expecting it will do the job of getting rid of hiccup.

webmd.com can give you answer to your hiccup problem, I would have posted the link but you can't do that here until you've reached 500 postings so I've still got a way to go. All sorts of things cause it,eating too fast, eating too much, emotional stress and more. It occurs when the diaphragm spasms.

Holding my breath for a long time usually helps me to stop the hiccups. Also drinking lots of water or juice. You can ask someone to scare you too but I don't think this really helps.Maybe just need to take your mind off.
