we have bought two new computers actually replacing our old two computers. anyways, the very old one would start booting but would not actually complete the process and so would not be able to open the windows xp. and so i have one monitor that is not being used. we have another extra monitor being used on the new desktop and we have another new computer a laptop.so there is no need to this old computer.i am thinking should i sell this stuff already. but i am worried my datas are still on my old computer. it is not that hard to fix this to those who know how to fix it.but anyways, tohse data are not that important but only my paswords to my paypal and other accounts.

Hotsummer, better sell it than keep it in your storage. The more it will aged, the more it will have lesser value. Sell it to friends so that you will not worry of things like that. And formatting it will permanently delete your files. Or better yet, donate the old one to charitable institutions or the government offices for children to have a free use of it. And that the most noble thing to do!

Since you can`t pull the hard drive out and use it on your new computer if you don`t want to open your new computer you should install a new windows xp and if you have only one partition then you can stop installing it after you format the drive. If you have more than one partition and you have your passwords on the other partition then install win xp and then format the other partitions too and i think that will be enough. Or you can change your passwords but it`s better if you delete your old data .

what i did is to salvage the old computer: 1. harddisk 2. keyboard 3. mouse 4. monitor 5. cooler or exhaust fan 6. jumper (just in case) 7. video card (if compatible) 8. CD or DVD Rom 9. Drive A 10. Harddisk Cable (just in case) and all of them to insert to the most latest default computer that i have.... you can make operate one computer using two mouses(one is usb and one is ps2), two keyboards (one is usb and one is ps2) two harddisk (one is primary or master and the other is a slave harddisk)

You better have someone fix it or rather have the hard disk and save all the important files and data that are in it and then resave it to your new computers and sell the old one. It is already considered a junk for you and it only occupies space in your house so you better put it on sale, then you can as well earn from it. Have a great day!

hi you can sell it without the hardrive so your datas wont go to bad hands :) or just reinstall the Windows XP (during setup format your HDD with the slow format) and sell it :) if you are not working in IT you shouldn't keep your old computers... you will never use them againt... maybe you can give it to someone who has a more older one.

If you don't have all the details of paypal in that computer it's better to sell if off. Or you can even give it away for free and help reducing waste and conserving our environment. Just post that you have an old computer to "freecycle" on www.freecycle.org....

Hi! I believe your old computer only need to reinstall the windows xp in order for it to become alive again. Your computer should come along with a startup disk or recovery disk or cd, what you need to do is just put the recovery cd into your old computer cd reader, you should be able to make it work again by following the instruction. If not you can just search or ask from someone who bough the same computer model or from the shop for the recovery cd, you should be able to get that. If you really want to sell the computer, you can always sell it to the shop and ask them to dismantle the hard disk for you, so that they will not get important informations from your hard disk. For that hard disk, you can ask someone to put it in to your new desktop computer, in this way, you will have extra space for your new computer. This is all what you can do with your old computer. Hope this help.
