What Do You Do To Cheer Yourself Up?

The internet can be used as a marvellous tool to cheer oneself up. I realise that YouTube can be a bit silly or even nasty at times but - now and again, I find a gem of a video and it does what I want it to do..which is, to cheer me up, not that I'm depressed or anything. It's just..nostalgia can be a wonderful thing and I absolutely loved "The Generation Game" when Bruce Forsyth hosted it. The clip below is from the Christmas Special of 1973 and it shows a lady making a Christmas cracker by hand and the contestants afterwards making a hash of it, which is the whole point of the game lol. Do I remember it? Well, I was only 7 at the time but I have no doubt that we would've sat and watched this show together, which is what Christmas is all about. Family. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVKbqDW5gbA

To answer your question, actually to cheer myself up, I buy foods and then watch a movie or sometimes I watch the videos of laughing babies on the youtube.

Yes, thinking positively can have er..a postive effect, I know exactly what you mean. I do play games though (well, one game actually) but it's nothing elaborate or challenging. It's called Bejeweled 3 and I think many people play it on their Smartphones, but I play it on my 20" computer screen instead. It's awesome. Well, I think so anyway!

I search "Generation Game " on mylot search,so I know something about it,But I can't always open the youtube.com somehow. The "youtube.com" really knows right well what people need.videos of the past can take our thought back to the days when We were children or young blood and touch our hearts.Maybe we sometimes feel that they are ridiculously childish, but come to think of it,there are so many things that we want for today in them.

I agree. The Internet is a good thing to use for any mood you are in. I like looking at little puppies and kittens. I also like looking at my baby doll on my bed. I change her clothes every now and then and that makes me happy.

I use to cheer up when watching my favorite TV programs or films. I love music or dance contests. They make me smile. This way I have the occasion to listen to music and watch as well. I must confess that Christmas or other holidays do not cheer me up because I have to work a lot with cooking. I can't help it!

At the moment I'm torn between "baking or not baking" and the "not baking" is winning, currently. It annoys me when I'm not enthusiastic about these things but anyway.. I have spells of listening to music and we're due to see my favourite band a week on Saturday, so I'm sooo looking forward to that. Not been to a gig for ages!

I read a book, listen to music, dance, watch a funny movie, and play with my dogs. I do not want to entertain sad feelings. I want to cheer myself up when I am down. It is expensive to hire a clown.

That's a very good point! To be honest, I'm scared of clowns so I'd rather "clown about" myself.

Thank you Janey1966 for the youtube fllm. It was very entertainng. It's good to see something that one hasn't seen on television in years. Myself, I have a cat family in my back yard. It looks like a mother, father, and kitten. I love when the kitten comes. The other two are scared of me. When I get close to the kitten, it runs with the others. They seem to be trusting me more and more though. Now when I come with food, they approach but still don't get too close. I like innocence I guess. What cheers me up is seeing a baby's smile.

Usually, shopping is what cheers me up. But then, with that shopping i get a big payment to make. Thus, it depresses me when after paying it full, i would be left to make both ends meet with my remaining salary. So, now usually i would pray for strength and then watch my favorite shows or those that can make me laugh.

Nothing wrong with retail therapy my friend although I don't do that very often due to lack of funds. However, whenever I used to get paid monthly I'd have to go easy on my salary, otherwise I'd have nothing left..so I know where you're coming from!

I'm one of those people that can help others to cheer up and be quite useless at it myself. Do you know what I mean? I'm not as bad as I used to be and MyLot can be uplifting in itself as there are so many people from around the world on here..and it's amazing how we're all different but alike in so many ways. We all have the same dreams and aspirations, no matter where we are and that's quite encouraging actually. No-one wants to give up in a hurry..least of all me!

I can very easily cheer myself up...I am a very optimistic person..I always try very very hard to see the good in every thing and every...I love giving and making others happy.. making people smile in this very unkind economical world makes me happy...My first happy/cheerful moment is when I open my eyes in the morning.at that point I know its up to me to make the best of the day because God has started me on my way. I love watching comedies on TV...reading jokes...and most haveing conversation with optomistic people...I hate to call someone and before I can complain about anything they start and continue with nothing but complaints.....and I understand there are some\ issues and situtations to complain about but NON STOP?? I try to surround myself with very uplifting people...MAKES ME HAPPY!!!!!

I go to my friend's house and we have some food trip. That's my simple way to cheer up when I am feeling down. Or sometimes, watching a funny movie and munching my favorite junks will do a good thing for me already.

When I was younger I used to go round to my friend's house midweek and have a good old natter. It was great and I would ALWAYS make her laugh, going on about my antics over the previous weekend. Her laugh would then make me laugh. Then we'd be in hysterics lol.

Well, I will search up some videos on Youtube, usually funny ones by Kevin Hart or Katt Williams to get me giggling! Or, I'll listen to some music by Kid Cudi or Skrillex or Deadmau5, or anything in between becasue music makes me feel awesome and energetic! I could always play some xbox, or come on here and myLot because online earnings really cheer me up!
