So will you still visit/use the internet when everything on the net is to be paid for? There are a lot of gossip lately that facebook would be charging its members but we all know that that's not true. I guess it's impossible for websites to charge people just by visiting them because it will lead to the downfall of the internet.

I had exactly the same thoughts when the New York Times erected its paywall months ago -- complete access to their content is for subscribers only. I thought then that since it's a news site, I could get my news elsewhere albeit packaged differently. Not surprisingly, a few months down the line, I sometimes catch myself thinking on whether I should just take the plunge and buy a subscription. Yes, I miss NY Times that much. There are workarounds to accessing the content mind you, but the experience doesn't really feel the same for me.
What I'm trying to explain here is that although I believe that Internet content should be made 'free' forever, there are situations that makes subscription as a sensible practice. To put it simply, if you need it (and its cheap) then paid Internet content may not be that much of a problem.

For subscriptions they do charge a price/fee and sometimes on other websites the content is not full so if you want to see the whole thing you have to pay, but yeah who wants to pay when you can find the information you need elsewhere for free! :) But if you really want the subscription then there's no harm in buying since there's PayPal. :)

Hi paopaolar,
Though not specifically we are paying for using Internet. Pay for it or not if there is need and you need urgently you would not hesitate to pay. There are certain sites I visit most. If those sites start asking for payment I would pay, for they are important and without them the PC would be lifeless object.
But do not worry there would not be any charge levied on these sites.
Cheers
Rajiv.

I will not visit a website if I have to pay for access. There are billions of websites in cyberspace that provide free access so why should I pay? There are some online news website that asks visitors to pay for subscription to the news site. I don't pay if I can get the news for free.

Well i'm not gonna visit the websites who's gonna charge us for only visit it's sites. I couldn't even imagine if we want to see something in the site but we need to pay for it. But, i guess it wouldn't happen since it is sound so strange thing to do to some websites.
