Whats wrong with pitch curators in India?

With a thumping defeat in England we observed lot of changes in Indian cricket, like giving priority to pace, rotation policy in bowlers too,new but in form bowlers getting chance over out of form stars.Quite pleased with that as an Indian fan. With all that i wonder what is wrong with pitches? its been a while since we saw good pitch favoring the spinners with bounce and turn.Last year NZ came to India and they were welcomed with dead pitches with no turn or pace at all, due to that they managed to draw first two tests and embarrass India who were no 1 team that time.Something similar has happened in WI series too ,its good that India is ahead 2-0 but both pitches that is in Kotla and Eden were disappointing.May be for pitch curators definition of a rank turner sporting wicket has changed, for them its a dead pitch with low bounce and no spin at all.The bat pad dismissals are almost vanished from test matches in India.Even in Ranji pitches are ridiculous, last year Baroda chased down a score in excess of 500.This year too dead pitches are being made which are full of runs.Challenging pitches with good bounce and spin will not only help Indian spinners but also our batsman who play on dead pitches at home and then struggle on lively pitches outside. Please share your views.

For me, a good pitch is one that batsman can enjoy and bowlers can enjoy at the same time. It shouldn't be too easy for one of them and too tough for the other. A good Indian wicket is one that offers chest high bounce for pacers, waist high bounce of wrist spinners, spin for finger spinners and consistency in bounce for batsmen. And believe me, it is not rocket science to make such pitches in India.

I think there is this feeling that making spinning pitches is not fair that was being talked about some time back. This is complete nonsense. If spin is our strength then the pitches have to be spin friendly. That is what the whole concept of home advantage is about. That is why in the ICC rankings away wins count more than home wins. So I do not see any harm in having a rank turner of pitches in India!! Cheers! Ram

yes, the pitches continue to flummox the cricket lovers. The board wannts Sachin to get his hundred at mumbai and the game of cricket has been relegated to second spot. Kapil struggled to reach 432 to beat Hadlee's record and now it is embarrassing to watch Sachin struggle to get that hundred. India is serious about finding short cuts to the no1 spot and since money is associated the game of cricket can be neglected.
