I am..huhuhu! there's not a month in the calendar year that i don't go through sickness. Usually i get colds, influenza or fever. Thank God I am past over my asthma although sometimes when i get sore throat it tends to attack me but with immediate medication I am able to suppress and stop it from worsening. I am taking supplements but it is not that effective maybe because i only buy the generics. Of course eating fruits and vegetables will increase my immune system. But it's hard to find organic. Almost all kinds of foods now are chemically produced.
I am so tired of my body worrying every minute i might get sick or easily contract a disease. So what have you done to improve your health. Any tips or secrets will be of great help. Actually I tried drinking pure lemon juice first thing in the morning which reduces my weight (this will be a great side effect for chubby people.haha). Not good for me 'cause I look thin already.huhu

good day periwinklez,
with reference to your main topic discussion, well, i was a sickly person before especially during my childhood days. and there were no days and no months that i was visiting a doctor during those times. as my body was really tired in drinking so much medicines and pain relievers.
so i have promised to myself that, if i grow up, i will invent a way on how to avoid drinking and taking so much medicines. as i really want to get rid of those pain relievers. and dont want to visit any doctor as much as possible. and i am proud to say that i was able to surpass this. now, i am not that kind of person frequently visiting a doctor neither drinking and taking medicines. as i am just taking a self massage to my reflexes and drinking a lot of water. aside from that, since the weather here is not that cold, i always see to it that i have a hand towel at my back to protect my back from any coldness so i will get rid of having colds or flu.
with the above that i have wrote, perhaps, you can try at least any of those which can be applicable to you so you can get rid of your sickness.
stay happy and be healthy.

Wow! congrats to your success on achieving that goal. Putting a hand towel on my back sounds like oldies. haha! Actually my mother always tell me especially when i'm doing the laundry. I never thought that this is for real. You see i always want scientific explanation or basis for this. Stubborn me. :) Can you explain a lil bit in self massage to your reflexes? Interested on doing this. Many thanks!

oh yeah..i read it somewhere several times also bout the reflexes. but i never tried it. i thought it's part of the chinese practices and traditional treatments. have you tried acupuncture cause they say it's proven and effective. im not sure though.
And so my mom is right, i will follow her advice just like yours. :)
God bless to a healthy life!

a pleasant day to you,
with regards to self massage, i just learned it from the books which i have read. that according to that book, our body system has its reflexes which can be found in our feet and hands. like for example, if you are suffering from a runny nose or a clogging on your nose due to colds, just try to massage your fingers at your hands to ease your breathing. in that way, the clogged will slowly remove in your nose and you will feel the ease when breathing. aside from that, you can also use this way, you know the space between your thumb finger and your pointing finger - that space, if you gently massage that and you feel some pain on it, then, there is something wrong with your health. that indicates, that you feel some pain inside your body. by continually massaging that space in between, the pain inside will slowly be healed, as this reflex is reflecting the part of your body feeling the pain.
you may also try to put a hand towel at your back, that is already proven based on my own experienced. whereas before, i don't believe on that. i find some hassle in doing that, but, one time, i have told to myself, i will try it for 1 week for me not to have a colds. then if that is effective, then, i will continue doing it. and it is proven. since i am prone in having colds, that i can have colds within 3 days. to my surprise, i did not have any colds within that span of 1 week. so i decided to continue doing it. and now, i am proud to say i am still doing it though it sounds like an old way of treatment. hence, it is better to use an old method rather than taking and drinking of a lot of medications.

Physically I'm not. Mentally.. that's another story. But my parents said it's because they didn't give me any antibiotics when I was a child so I have the helping bacterias left in me. But I think sleep is very important too.. get enough sleep and drink lots of water. Always wash your hands with soap when you come home and gargle. And yes, eat an apple a day!

Ahaha!is that a joke!? Anyway, if it's true i hope you find solution to your mental problem. It's more difficult to handle emotional or psychological illness. I'll pray for your betterment. I think i can already count the good bacteria left in my body. I grew up with antibiotics until now.

I am also a sickly person and I think its good to drink alot of hot liquids all the time. I just drink tea with honey every morning and eat nothing but noodle soup. I used to have asthma and that cab come with allergies and its not good. I also suggest breathing the freshest air if it is a cold winter where you are its good to breathe the cold air its cleaner just always dress real warm and never let your body get cold.

I also have asthma but i get few attacks and milder compared to when i was a kid. Fresh air really helps but I'm living in a city so it's hard to get some here. Everyday I am exposed to dust and polluted air especially when going to work. Why noodles? I think it's not good to be over indulgent with such kind of food.

It sad for to hear about sickly people. I thank God, I have no serious medical problems ever since I was a child. I got some childhood diseases, but luckily I survive, the most difficult illness I experience is chickenpox and measles in high school. I was never hospitalized. My only sickness every year are cold, cough and strep throat.

You are one lucky and blessed girl. :) I think almost everyone has to go through chickenpox and measles. It is part of growing. Not sure though because we already have vaccines now for this. Be healthy always!

I'm a sickly person too! I get sick very easily when exposed to something new like going out the whole day at the beach, something that will definitely make me get headaches or get a flu. Right now, I'm getting stomach pains and a headache and it's annoying me. urns out, I was never fed mother's milk which has vital nutrients which builds upon the baby's immune system. Because of that, I get very ill pretty easily. I hate how I'm always taking medicine all the tie and I get sick like after a few days after I recovered. I also have hay fever too and a runny nose is not appealing. I wish I was a healthy person who can battle each day with a healthy mind and body. I always get sick and I feel really drowsy so I'm not very energetic. By half the day, I feel pretty tired, sick and I just want to go to bed and watch a bit of TV. Something small can make such a big difference like a sore throat or a headache. I really ruins my day and it's worst when I have exams too on the day.

I actually grew tired of going to clinic and seeing the doctor. And most of all taking lots of bottled medicines or supplements. I am going to the alternative medicine now 'cause some of it are free and no side effects.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving also!

Pure lemon juice? What's wrong with a nicely made lemon juice with enough water and sugar? I think drinking pure lemon juice is going to set my wrinkles.
I am also a sickly person. I always pick up any virus during its season. I do try to fight them with fruits and vegetables since I don't (know how to) take medicines/supplements. I don't understand why you said it's hard to find organic, and all foods are now chemically produced? Where exactly in the Philippines do you live? If you go to the provinces, there are a lot of organic foods there. Back home in Zamboanga we have a vegetable patch and I think it's organic since we've never sprayed pesticides on them, etc. And we have fruit bearing trees. I even help in picking the ripened fruits, like mangoes and guavas. They are really good for the health, and I guess that's how I maintain mine.
But now I'm in Metro Manila. So not much maintenance.

I live in Davao City and i just buy foods in the mall. :) Since i heard it from someone that those veggies/fruits on display that looks fresh are actually been sprayed with a chemical "formalin" to make it last long and read an article about china's fruits that burst, i became keen and too cautious. I actually stopped buying oranges because it's made on china as it indicates on the pack. I know i'm just being paranoid.haha! but it is a fact that most of the farmers prefer using chemicals for many reasons.
Yes, pure lemon juice because if you mix it with water or sugar then it becomes acidic. I got this idea from Bo, have you heard of him? :)
What do you mean by not much maintenance since living in Manila? Is it because the food there is too expensive?

I am so grateful that I have not gotten sick this year. That being said, I may have just jinxed myself into some horrible illness. However, over recent years, I think that only moderate illnesses have really graced me and even then, it is only for a couple of days. Granted, it is a an uncomfortable couple of days but still the time is brief.
Hopefully for those who are sickly, things will hopefully improved. It is an awful lot in life to be sick all of the time. It is awful to be sick one percent of the time when you really think about it. Not a good time to be ill, not a good time at all to say the very least. Still glad not to be ill for a year and counting. I need to really stop while I'm ahead. :)

In my case I rarely get sick, I consider myself a strong woman thanks God because there are a lot of virus and sickness buit I stay fine thanks God.
I remember I used to have a helper in my job,and each week she reported sick at least one day a week,it used to make get mad, because I had to all the work by myself, and never received any compensation,it was like a punishment for me each time she missed the work.
But what I can tell you is continue eating healthy and drinking lemon juice, that is a good tip, and I will use it too.

Hahahha! your helper was too sickly i guess. But i hope you understand her situation now. There are just people like us. Actually i feel ashamed of myself for being known as the absenus even in my childhood days because of my physical state. You were just unfortunate to be with her. :)
Yeah, lemon juice on it's pure state will not cause ulcer. Try to read about this. It can even help you get slim.

Hmm.. I was almost aborted also just by accident, because at that time my mother never knew she was pregnant and she was taking pills at the wrong schedule. Maybe it is also the reason why i am so sickly, like you being premature. So exercise really helps even if we are asthmatic? I'll try that.

The only thing that could cause me fever is my best friend Strep Throat, nothing more, nothing less. I love eating sweet foods and the lazy person that I sometimes am does not brush teeth before sleeping, well, that was before. These are the main contributing factors that lead to my tonsilitis. I do get cough and colds very rarely as I am a Vitamin hero at home and I do eat a lot of fruits and veggies so maybe the cause of it may either be the weather or a super stressor you might say. I also drink tons of water each day and try my best to exercise or engage myself at sport events.
Stay healthy and be safe!

This is also some of the culprit of my illness. I usually avoid sweets and very cold drinks even water because the moment i give in to these temptations, the next 24hrs is my most dreaded day. TONSILITIS!urgh!and that's how i get runny nose and fever also. Your right, sometimes it's due to weather changes and stress.
Water is still the best therapy, i guess. I just hate going back and forth to CR.
