Master key - one key for everything

Would it be practical to have a master key for your house. One that can open all the locks of not only your door, but your cabinets or anything that has a lock on it? And even your car? This would do away with all those keys dangling on your key chain and would also prevent those frustrating times when you're looking for a misplaced key. Just a thought.

That would be practical, yeah. But, I think that would be dangerous if you lost that key. It's like handing over your whole house to thieves. I live in a studio unit, and I discovered that my door can be opened by any key that resembles it. I have not changed my door knob or added additional locks on the outside, so I feel terrible everytime I leave the house. On worse days, I imagine going home to an empty house.

That is a very good idea , but bad if you lost it. Tho it would be nice for my hubby because he has so many keys on his key chain. If we had a master key for everything i wouldn't have to have as many keys made or keep track of as many or go looking for as many when i lose them. The only thing wrong with this is when you lose the key you can't get into anything so be careful and don't lose it and have some copies made of it.

As convenient as that might sound, I would prefer not to have a master key for everything. Reason being is the key gets stolen, the thief has access to everything not only the front door of your house. I personally don't like to have to many keys, but I wouldn't sacrifice the safety and my possessions for convenience.
