My kitten has taken to standing on his back paws to get at the characters on the TV screen..very cute...Meanwhile,I'm trying to prevent him from attacking power cords, but the keyboard lead, and the moving Iron lead were both getting attention...and then I thought of using the Wii internet channel to show him some of Maru (Boxcat!) on youtube...I positioned the Wii Sensor under the screen, turned everything on ,and started waving the Wiimote around..no vibration feedback,no pointing finger...I checked the batteries, replaced them...still nothing..time for some more in depth troubleshooting..the startup screen was there waiting for me to do something,so I thought to check the connection from sensor to the plug on the Wii box...and the thin wire appears to have been bitten through! Sabotage! The tiny gamekiller struck again.. What thing has YOUR kitten or cat rendered inoperable or broken? (I've since ordered a wireless sensor box on Ebay...)

I have had three cats in my life but none of them have been really destructive to that point, oh one destroyed a couch but I feel that is my fault becuase I should have had a scratching post for her, As naughty as they can be you gotta love them.

I wasn't mad at the kitten over this,I thought it was sorta funny as the wire was cut so near to the console that I hadn't noticed there actually was a break until I realised things weren't working as they should! It seemed almost like a prank,if a kitten would do that! Right now,he's trying to help me type by pushing keys! (some editing involved here!)

LOL! A scratching post does not always help avoid furniture being destroyed. One of the first things we did when we rescued our kitten was to buy him a scratching post, even though he was way too young and tiny to be able to use it. Still, I wanted to be prepared. He liked the scratching post and did use it when he got older, but somehow the furniture still seemed more desirable than the scratching post at times.

I think a scratching post may be useful..I have wood laminate flooring,so the carpets are safe, and I've noticed He's now able to scale the one cloth backed chair in the living room and perch on top of it..and my bike wheels are being used as climbing frames...

Our kitten destroyed our Christmas tree. Now, I guess that we should have expected it - you know, shiny objects that are fun to play with, curious kitten, etc. However, we watched him very carefully when we put up the tree, so that we could "correct" the behavior if he decided to investigate the tree. I guess he was too smart for us, though. He showed absolutely no interest in it whatsoever while we were awake, so we thought we were safe. As soon as we went to bed, on the other hand, he must have thought it was "fair game", because we heard some rustling, tinkling like he was batting at the ornaments, and before we could get in the living room to stop him a few small crashes. As we rushed into the living room, we saw him try to attack the tree, and it fell over on top of him. He had an absolutely shocked look, and then he ran and hid behind us so we could protect him from the big, bad tree!

That's the thing..The tree was fair game once you all had gone to bed! I'm just now reconsidering whether I should put up a tree this Christmas...

On a related note,If you haven't already seen them,do check out "Simon's Cat" on youtube...It's a series of line animation cartoons and it HAS to be based on someone's cat experiences..they're hilarious!

LOL! I am not sure, since your Wii did not survive with your kitten, I suspect that your tree might succumb to the same or a similar fate. I just want to know how our kitten knew to wait until we were in bed to investigate the tree not to mention how he resisted the shiny ornaments until the lights were out and not as shiny any more.

well, the cats killed the roomie's keyboard yesterday, so its now replaced... I used to have a cat who bit through many a wire, took out my speaker wires on my old stereo and turned the phone wire into 4 bits of phone wire... this was before the age of cordless phones...

I think this is all part of the cat plan for world domination while they wait to develop opposable thumbs...
