too tired to be creative

I am a writer and I love what I do, but I write for other people know, I get paid to write what other people want me to write.
I don't write for myself anymore. Even if I come on here I feel guilty that I am not working writing something to get paid.
But I cannot write for pleasure, because pleasure does not pay.
I started my third book. I wrote 5 chapters and just do not have the time to finish it. Because if I am working on the book I am not getting paid and I need to get paid to pay my bills.
I love to write what is called stream of consciousness writing and all kinds of creative writing but that kind of writing such does not pay.
I feel I am losing my craft.

I know how you feel. I love to write. Have been doing it since I was a kid. I feel bad that I am not doing more also. I could have written a book along time ago but I have seperation anxiety so it remains in my head. What I find works for me is to work on here, write alittle on this, write alittle on that, keep notes on the book, do my research and take breaks on Facebook. Then do it all again. That way I am working on all my responsibilities and accomplishing something.

I write all the time, but I have to pay my bills so that kind of writing comes first, I just don't have the time for writing just for me anymore.

Maybe, you could try to find a balance of the two. I can understand the need to do what you have to do to pay the bills. Unfortunately, we have to make money to pay the bills to simply live. If we didn't have to worry about that, I think that many more of us would and could gladly find the time to do more things that we truly enjoy. However, maybe there is a way that you could do both. My first suggestion would be to continue doing what you do...writing for others...yet, take a little time every day to do what you enjoy. My second suggestion would be to attempt to write more for people who seem to want you to write things that interest you more. My third suggestion would be, if you write shorter stories and such, publish them online and accomplish two things at once. You get to write more that you a=enjoy writing and you make some money along the way.
I really commend you on completing two books and starting a third. That is one thing that I have wanted to do all of my life, but still have not accomplished. Keep at it and eventually, it will really pay off for you.

the point is I do not have the time to do both, and that is why I miss creative writing. There is not enough hours in the day to do everything, and somethings have to be dropped and this was one of them.

my schedule is hectic, I have deadlines to meet and if I don;t write I don;t make money I have priorities and creative writing cannot be one of them. Not even for 15 minutes a day. I come on mylot for relaxation when I have time, and I love to play scrabble then there are all the priorities, these two things come last of course, the mylot and the scrabble. I sometimes don't write during the day, if I am too tired Like to day I have not written any articles. My lot is not writing it is just short discussions. The life of a professional writer is hard. The clients want their work on time or the fire you and get somebody else.

I can understand how you feel. In the last three months, I have ended up doing nothing but work constantly. I get very little sleep because there is always so much work that I feel I have to get finished before I can do anything I enjoy. As a result, I feel like I have lost a lot of myself. As hard as it is, and as seemimngly impossible as it, I had to make the conscious decision to put the work away for at least 15 minutes a day and do something that makes me happy and peaks my creative mind. If I didn't begin making myself do this, I really believe that I would have lost myself completely.
I know that you don't feel like there are enough hours in the day to do everything, but if you don't force yourself to take that time for yourself, you will end up resenting it later on. Fifteen minutes is not a long spam of time, but it is enough to help you feel as if there is more to life than work. Even if you talk into a tape recorder while you are doing daily household chores, it would help you keep hold of your creativity and help you realize that you really do not have to give up something that you obviously love to do.

I certainly sympathize with you. in high school, i was told i had a great potential for writing/journalism. i loved it. then, i got married started having kids and working, etc. no longer had time. after the kids were grown, i finally found a decent hubby where i didnt have to work my butt off and i joined a writing school and had A1 grades. but then, i started doing caregiving and my clients took up so much of my time i lagged again and gave it up. now i have the time again but not the energy. plus i never feel good enough to devote enough time.

If only there was an easy way to reducethe bills and make more spare time , you would probabely write what you like.
Maybe you can figure out some ways for lowering your bills and increasing your spare time.
I think you can even use your mylot time for your own help : you can try to find out how many people would like your writings , what they like to read that you love writing about.
It will give you many creative ideas even if you are too tired (but still active on mylot).
I think I would like to buy your book if I love it's subject ummm...and if I have enaugh money on paypal to pay you.
Don't you ever have a day without work at all ? maybe sonday or saturday ?

I do what I have to do I am a professional writer and I have worked out my budget out I make quite a bit of money writing but I have to because I am on pension and it barely covers the rent. So it just doesn't leave enough time to do creative writing that I love to do but does not pay.

It is very sad thing to be a slave to the bills all of your life.
I think one good goal for every person in life is to express himself and make an impact on the world.
Do you want to be a slave to the salary all of your life ?
How will people remember you if you just work all the time ?
It is a waste of life if you can't express yourself with what you are gifted with.
Isn't there any one who can volunteer and help you with writing so you can have more time for your hobby ?
Can't you ask for money from your family or friends so they will pay your rent and you don't have to work all the time ?
Who knows , maybe your books will be so popular and many people will enjoy reading them and buy them , don't you think ?

Seems like you are working to hard, Yes I know you do it because it pays bills, but you over do it also. You never make times for yourself and your writing much so your burning out on it because of that..I wish we had a perfect world where nobody had to work so hard to love and enjoy themselves and that all housing was free..lol

My husband calls those periods of time "playing with his writers blocks." LOL So nice that we have the internet as a way to write out our thoughts, and get paid, to boot!! :) I don't know where I'd be if I had to suffer through writers block without being able to play around on places like MyLot and Gather! :)

I don't have writer's block, I can write I just don;t have the time to write anything creative, I have to pay my bills. So I have to write the commercial and academic stuff I always right. That is what pays. I am just tired out and need a break but I don't have writers block at all.

I hope not, I can understand not having the time to do what you enjoy. For me it was working in my flower bed, but since I started babysitting. I didn't get the time to do it anymore. I slowly watched my flower bed go from a beautiful site to something you would see on a property that has slowly went under. I do hope you don't stop writing. Hopefully soon, you will find the time to write for yourself and not what someone wants you to.

Thank goodness, because your a wonderful writer. My oldest daughter loves to write. During the past summer she has written a few books. She reminds me of a young Stephen King. Thank you for my flower beds, I should be able to get it back to it's formal glory come spring. Especially since I don't babysit anymore.

You write what people wants...that's called commercial writer.
I wrote what I want and what I feel.
I submit my writings/blogs in earnings sites and I don't care if other members are reading it or not..as long as I am writing what I want to write.
Because writing is my passion...and I am writing to express my emotions..
Same thing with my painting...I paint my emotion and not paint what people want me to paint.

I am a professional writer, it pays the bills, I just miss writing the stuff that I used to write like poems and creative writing. I worked hard to become professional don;t forget that. It is just I don;t have time to do other kinds of writing anymore.

You probably just have writers block. I like to write lyrics but if I write too much I loose motivation and I stop for a while untill I see something that motivates me. Usually if I see someone doing the same that inspires me to be competitive and I start writing again. I think maybe you stop writing for a while and just do alot of reading. Take a break for like a month or so and then start writing again and you might feel better about it when you start again.

If you are not writing about something that you yourself are passionate about then yes you will lose your joy or love of writing rather. Maybe writing what people want you to write about pays the bills, but you have to decide whats more important to you, your love of writing or writing just to pay the bills. It's not easy but if you have no joy in writing then it will eventually effect your writing style anyway & then it will no longer even pay your bills so you will lose out all around.

I write what I like I write three topics that I am passionate about
that is not the point the point is I cannot write the creative stuff because there is just no time to do it. And this is what I miss.
I would love to sit down and write a poem or short story or creative piece of writing where I am just talking about my hands what they look like with from color texture etc. There is just no time for that now. It is a case of all work and no play now.
Nice to see you again, I haven't seen you in a while.

Fatigue is a very uncomfortable feeling.
I know how you feel.
not give up writing because this is your craft.
I think that you have it or not.
just devoted to rest and relax and see that everything will be business as usual.
nice day!
