Because of my extended family and my business, I spend a lot of time on facebook. However I feel so blessed that my happiness or Joy as I like to cal it is so full, it allows me to block out all the people who are so unhappy. There is one thing to be upset about something, but to want to put it out there for millions to see for me is too much.
So do you think happiness is a choice? If so, why do people make the choice to be so unhappy?

I think situations can make us sad and other situations can make us happy, what matters is how we feel inside, if drawing or talking onine makes you happy and fulfileld then that is fine, I like to poootle around the garden but the thought of gardening is horrible to some people.
We have to learn who we are inside, our likes and dislikes and build our lives around that happiness, if we do not have power in asituation eg faling relationship we need to look at what we can do to make it better or whether we would be happier alone.
Some people seem to wallow in their problems and enjoy the attention, others just need to tell everyone what they're going through and then their feeling expressed they can move on.
Happiness is different for everyone and I'm glad to say I touch happiness in some small ways every day, jsut like when we were kids and didn't have to worry about if we were happy cos it just happened :)

jellypops good for you! it's so important to find happiness in everything everyday. in the simple things of life as well as the big in your face happy moments! life is full of ups and downs, but the way you view those days determines how happy you allow yourself to be!

I do think happiness is a choice most of the time (except when something really bad happens in our lives).
We choose what to give to others and what our days will be like.We choose so many things. But mainly we choose our thoughts and how to look at the world. And if we are positive and see all the good things around us instead of the bad we will be a lot happier.
So yes,I do think happiness is a choice.
Happy Mylotting! :)

Personally, everything is what we want it to be, and that includes happiness. We choose to be happy. I guess some just chose not to for varied reasons. They might have become too frustrated in life and their will power weakened. Once in a while we get sad. We just have to will ourselves to be happy.

I think happiness is a choice. It is not a real thing like objects or material possessions but we realize happiness from giving, the relationships we have in our life and out of joy for even the most simplest activities or accomplishments. I’ve heard happiness being described as a five second event but also believe that we can be more or less happy. The circumstances in this world though can challenge us however to the point where we feel bad – life could be described like a roller coaster ride?

i don't allow things outside of myself to determine my happiness. I make a choice to make sure everyday i find joy and happiness in everything. Even on rare moments when it one of those blah moments. i find the lesson and allow that lesson to keep my joy high!

Sometimes no matter how hard people try to be happy, the situation that comes to their life made them to be unhappy. I do believe that happiness is a choice but we cannot actually feel happy everyday if everyday what we are facing are trials and battles that is not so easy to solve. They may smile once in a while and forget their burdens but deep inside their pain and struggle's still there.

Good day, friend. I do believe that happiness is a matter of choice. Sometimes we are easily affected by those factors outside. Pressure from family, jobs, or interpersonal relationship, etc. can easily preventing us from happiness. I used to be someone like this. Those negative feelings would trouble me for days even months. But that didn't make any contribution in making life better. So now I am trying to always hold a peaceful and positive attitude towards life. One of my teachers always tell us to look at the bright side of life. I think it's quite helpful to me. Frustration will not do any good so why not just cheer up. Life goes on. If we are more positive, things would be much less complicated.

Yes, happiness is a choice. There are plenty of things to get upset about, we start the day with hope that things will be good but some days we need to focus on what makes us happy because there are plenty of things that can make us sad. Being unhappy is a way of life for some people, they cannot see joy in anything so they hate on everything. Keep your spirit bright, joy does come in the morning even though java comes before joy in the dictionary. :)

I think that life is what we make of it. I think that everyone goes through hard times and everyone reacts differently to adversity. I think that a positive attitude makes a huge difference in how we live our life and whether or not we feel happy or not. So, in a way, yes, I guess I do feel that we make the choice whether we are happy or not.
As far as why people choose to be unhappy...well, I don't think it is a conscious choice. I think that many people seemingly go through hard times more than others and as a result, these people become more negative in their thinking, which results in being unhappy.
I know that there are times in my life when I let things bother me too much because it feels like I have more and more obstalces to overcome just to make ends meet and provide for my family. I am generally a positive person, but when things seem to come at me from all directions, my attitude changes and I become unhappy. It takes me a while to realize that most of the things I am facing are things that I can handle just fine when I am able to focus on them one at a time. When I realize this, I can feel my attitude becoming more positive and as a result, I get through the obstacles and feel happy again. I don't consciously choose to be unhappy at all, I just become overwhelmed with the obstacles and have to remember to take time to slow down and regroup.

I think it's a choice. We are what we are and what we want to be. Nobody can tell you to be happy. It is just the attitude in you that reacts on circumstances. Like when someone wronged you, would you feel anger, hatred, sadness, etc. Or would you stop, think for a while and ask or wonder what have you done for him to do that to you? Would you forgive and reconcile or keep bitterness in your heart? It is all up to you. So as happiness. We can't control the external forces but we can handle and control our emotions and reactions. If you think that life is so unfair, yes it is, but that doesn't mean we can't do anything about it. You have the choice to accept it and be at least happy that you are alive and have the chance to enjoy what life can offer and keep on aspiring. To pursue happiness is something you are trying to grab in oblivion but being content to what you have at the moment while persevering to what you want will perhaps make you happy. :)
