Have you visit wikipedia recently? Have you seen the notice on top of the article that you have researched? I says about a personal appeal from Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales and you have the option to read it more or just ignore it and continue with your research. He is actually campaigning that the users and readers of wikipedia would donate something to sustain wikipedia.
What do you think of this? Do you think they need to do this every year just to maintain the site? Have you made your donation?

I am quite wary about this. For a founder of a world-renowned website, it is not a far-fetched idea that he knows his way around the world wide web inorder to sustain his website. If the founder or creator of Facebook can earn over a site that does nothing but promote social interaction, I cannot see it happening for Wiki.

That's how he run his free library, since we are not being force to give him some money I don't we have the right to criticize what he wants to do in his site, even though I decided not to donate, there are lots of people out there would still donate to his site, let those good people give him some dollars.

Hello vexxus, I do hope some people would have extra money so they would be able to donate to the site. I do hope he can gather enough to sustain the site. Thanks for your time and answer.

I've never been to WIkipedia at all.. haha :D WHenever i'm searching for stuffs, i end to skip answers and solutions from it as i've never trust them. As they are open, everybody can contribute any answers to it, making it lose credibility. As such, i don't bother myself with wikipedia and even if they are shut down for good, it's none of my business. It's a sore to my eye as they are always on the top half of searches, where i find irritating

I use wiki occasionally, but it can be edited by any one so it can be changed and wrong information purposefully inserted. I understand why he wants donations but I wouldn't pay for it. Its not worth it since it is unreliable.

Hello GavinKaos, thanks for your response. yes it can be edited and one can put a wrong information about a certain topic but we can always rate them and most of the time it is useful for some researches. They wouldn't be that popular if they have a lot of error.
Thanks for your response and have fun mylotting.

I don't use it nearly enough to warrant my donating anything. I am on a tight budget so the last thing I can afford to do is to be donating money to a website no matter how informative that website may be to millions of people.

Thanks for your opinion Robswife. I know only few people would respond to their appeal. I hope they would just think of a way to earn something even just enough to sustain their site. Happy mylotting!
