Hello Lotters,
This is yet another freaking annoying public servant who thinks that giving a road name to a Former President of the Country, the first Female President Cory. Though we already have a Highway named after a Diosdado Macapagal, I don't think we should Replace EDSA simply because the influence of the Ninoy's wife brought back the freedom of the country.
Maybe they should make another Gigantic Highway in Tarlac and named it Cory there instead of EDSA. this road was the symbol of people's freedom and not because of her.
I don't know but this lawmaker is asking for attention, what do you think? does he have more important bills to pursue or more argument to handle?
Not a referral link.

HE is not a lawmaker, He is a LOW-MAKER..They are in political positions to make BILLS BENEFITING FOR THE PEOPLE AND NOT FOR ANY DISTINCTIVE IDENTITIES? maybe during election process,It was made for such promise to give credit for his master.. Sorry to say, but that is the way I see it, how the government plays well in Circus Shows with no rehearsals. DOES THAT ISSUE NEED TO BE ARGUED? For that sake only? maybe this LOW-MAKER is seeking attention about this promulgation because he exercise his power to think more of a good bill.. so, he opened his wallet and get a P 500 BILL, and he got that idea what law he will make? AND during that time he was on EDSA experiencing heavy traffic and feel bored already...so, he decided to make a BILL that will also give him many P 500 bills.. and when he look at the back of the said BILL he saw the picture of Ninoy Aquino and have that second thought,, where is CORY? hmmm... I guess she must also be in a bill too ? but what bill? aah ok? I will propose this EDSA been under her name..
So what do you think is his definition of the word BILL? ha ha ha.
On the other side? Imagine when this bill be implemented? expect riding a BUS route with these plates and a conductor asking you? YOUR DESTINATION? CORY IBABAW? OR CORY ILALIM? very gross... ha ha ha
FOR ME, ANY PART IN THE COUNTRY IS A SYMBOL OF FREEDOM, AS LONG IT IS FOR PUBLIC USAGE, A FREEDOM TO EXPERIENCE NEW TRANSFORMATION LIKE having NEW ROAD CONNECTIONS, SCHOOLS, TOURIST PLACES, FREEDOM CANNOT BE HELD IN ONE LOCATION ONLY, THAT IS WHY IT IS TERMED FREEDOM..EDSA IS THE ONLY ROAD THAT TIME WHERE HUGE PEOPLE CAN BE ACCOMMODATED TO MARCH AND MORE VISIBLE IN OTHER'S EYE.. That is why it was remarkable, not the Road but many people from different sectors of life marching along for change..
I agree with you, this public servant is really freaking and annoying. I guess the Miriam Santiago BILL named as ANTI-EPAL BILL is applicable for this kind of people. ha ha ha

Hello Genericbe, I am glad that we still have intellectuals llike Mirriam Defensor Santiago to inspire us that the government is not too late to keep it going. that's true and the mere fact that this guy isn't part of his district he should have shut it to his throat. maybe now he will just be quiet and do his job right. have a nice day.

I think there is nothing wrong to rename EDSa but I'm not agree with that. The mere fact that there a lot of issue and problem to tackle and resolve. They should resolve this issues first before thinking to rename a street.I think those law maker has nothing to do in the congress to the point that they wanted to rename a street.tsk tsk tsk.

Hello Ardoy0731, There is definitely wrong renaming EDSA and that is they don't care about history. the guy isn't even residing on EDSA nor it's his jurisdiction. they should make more laws that are protecting and benefiting the people and NOT THAT

They should resolve more important issues and too many problems before renaming a street.

I get you on this one. Why don't they change the name of the country to Republic of Aquino (or Cojuangco or whatever) altogether?
What a shame the country needs a lot of more important bills to pass. And, there are a lot of old laws that need to be revised. And we hear of these things. What are the priorities of our lawmakers?
There's no doubt the former President contributed something to the country, but, the honor can be best bestowed some other ways. Besides, the people power revolution that happened there was because of the PEOPLE.

Hello Gloryacam, I wouldn't agree as there will be a huge outrage if they did start doing that. I don't know what they are arguing any more but i bet it's not even serious. Not really there are documentations now proving that the EDSA was some what a stage act but am not sure if i should believe that. but one thing you're right it was about the people. have a nice day.

I dont think there is anything wrong in venerating and honoring Cory Aquino, but I dont think this bill should be prioritized or given any serious attention. For sure even Cory Aquino will not agree on such move, since it mean denigrating the equally honorable name and contributions of Epifanio Delos Santos.

In total agreement with you. This is just another trivial matter. I don't how long and how deep the good congressman thought of this matter. I mean, I like the idea of giving respect and honor to people who deserve it but his manner and approach is truly something that I would assume that the former president will not even approve of.

Hello Greenpeas, There isn't, as they have been honoring her since the time that she was alive, and almost countless times too.People learn to forget fast and this is what the congressman thinks. I think there should be a fine line in allowing the honory to stop, we must make way for the new heroes and not always the Aquinos. people should know also why it was named after Delos Santos. have a nice day.

I've seen this news earlier and the guy even made a joke that we can name our country Republic of Aquino. EDSA has been there a long time ago, why the need to change?
They should leave EDSA alone. Instead of renaming the place why don't they work on the road condition, it won't help at all reducing traffic and pollution. It would be better if they pass a bill on how to make our city and major roads comply with international standards.

Hello Enelym, I agree they have totally dominated every thing and now the road should be change? clearly these politicians should not represent their people because they don't know their history and most specially why EDSA was named from Mr. Efipanio in the first place. have a nice day.

What's the point in changing the name of the road?
Why do people in the government take time in these kinds of things, where they could have used the time to think about more issues that need MORE attention.
Being a public servant is no easy task but why are they taking there job so lightly that they have time to change the name of a VERY busy highway, and not talk about something that would help solve our problems with, education, poverty, environment.
hmmm...
makes me wonder if they just wanted publicity.

Hello Davaome, there is no point on changing the road name. in fact, we change name roads and it's still is the same. It's the people because the voted for this man and then really if they didn't vote probably no one will have to propose because it is clearly insane. No doubt they are doing it for publicity. have a nice day

Hello Swirlz, I strongly agree to that, these people doesn't really care about the history. I think he's dumb and forgotten his own education. I don't know who voted for this man but he clearly doesn't care about his district and wants to rise up. he should make better bills than that. have a nice day.

Well, I really do not mind what name the road has. After all, it is still a road. For as long as we can use the road then it does not matter to me. But what bothers me is that why make such a bill right now when there are so many problems affecting our country. Ranging from high cost of commodities, to high prices of fuel, unemployment etc. I think this will only show what kind of lawmakers we have right now in country. No wonder we keep on falling to the bottom as compared to other Asian countries considering that we have so many lawmakers who does not even know what to prioritize. I hope that we Filipinos will be able to vote for the right people in the government so that once and for all, our country will move on and our lives will improve.

Hello JPso, That's the point, we got more important laws to put up there and this guy tends to seek attention by just changing the roads name. I am tired of saying the word deterioration but this is one of the causes of it. I don't know about voting because most people are iliterate. thats all i can say about that now. have a nice day.

I'm guessing they'll rename a snake or a crocodile specie and name it after CGMA!

hi LK,
i would rather that EDSA retain its name. i dont find that very important though whoever's name is there.
but what is in a name? it should be that this lawmaker make changes in what is seen there in EDSA, like improvement of services and the like.

Hello TigerAunt, I agree with you, if there's going to be a bill to make and that would be for the good services and infrastructure security and benefits on that highway. but really why does he make it his business when it's not part of his district any ways. If there is going to be some one whos going to make the improvements, it should be the representative that has EDSA's jurisdiction. have a nice day

Honestly in my personal opinion I think the move is a waste of time and a waste of peoples money cause we pay these lawmakers while they debate on issues. The historic road was formerly named Highway 54 before they changed it to Epifanio de los Santos or EDSA for short, that was the name when the historic event happened so why change it? . It's the power of the people and trust in God that brought about the peaceful revolution, with all due respect Tita Cory is only one of the key players and central figure but everyone who was there gave a contribution, why not just name it " Peoples power avenue"cause if the people did not heed the call of the late Cardinal Sin, all of them would have been wiped out by the superior Marcos forces. I think we are also risking opening old wounds that might cause more division than there are already(just my personal opinion) so we better just forget the idea and tackle more important matters.

Hello Louievill, Indeed and I wonder who voted for this guy i bet they got money to have him win the election too bad.We have honored Cory Aquino long enough and i think people of EDSA should have been give recognition instead of being replaced by a person who merely replaced Marcos. Have a nice day.

Hello Mantis, They shouldn't because how can the tourist get to know where they going if they kept changing the road names. We emphasize too much in naming our roads that are mostly dirty and filled with race car fanatic drivers who couldn't even follow the darn law. have a nice day.

Hello Ura4mae, Not to mention EDSA is not part of his district why the hell is he bothering the name of that road? is that the only he's been doing through out his entire term? Probably he too no longer value the importance of EDSA revolution and the Likes of it's history. have a nice day.

I haven't caught the news yet so this is the first time I've heard this. I share your sentiments about this, and that goes also to our other lawmakers who keep on filing bills that renames roads, towns, etc. I really don't get the importance of these bills. I mean, there are more pressing matters that these lawmakers should attend to. It seems that we really haven't change since the 1986 revolution.

Hello Beamer, Why bother changing the names of the streets if there's no development there at all or at least very little development. such should be on further noticed and study first. They should make bills that protects the people with regards to their safety, society, shelter, freedom and well being. and not this. It actually went worst after the revolution. have a nice day.

There was a similar incident in my country too when a road was renamed simply because the road was previously named after a foreigner who even though was a foreigner had made much contributions to the country.
The lawmakers decided that we shouldn't have roads named in honor of foreigners and proceeded to name the road after one of the kings in our country. I think that is not fair. A foreigner was willing to give his time and effort to make this country a better place and we can't even let him have the glory of having a road named after him.
It does beg the question of whether these lawmakers have nothing better to do. They should be more concerned about creating laws that will help the poor and the destitute in the country and not bother about things that will not make a difference to the people.

Why do we have these kind of lawmakers and why do people vote for them? The only thing they want is some kind of attention and the media pick it up easily because the media knows that it will evoke people's interest. So we bite in the hook, that stupid lawmaker is now popular and people want to know who's the idiot!

It would be better if they retain it to Edsa. People Power was not done by Mrs. Cory Aquino alone. It was because of the unity of the people. If they want to give honor to the late President, this is not the right thing to do.
I think this lawmaker is trying to get the attention of the crowd. This bill is not worthy to discuss in the congress. This is just a waste of time. Why not spend his attention on major issues in our country. Poverty, education and jobs. There are so many problems that should be resolved not this.
