Pickles are nothing but processed foods. Certain fruits or vegetables taste good when processed to pickles like lemon, mango, garlic etc. In my place, pickles are a good addition to the food. Though I do not have a big liking to this pickles, I have seen few members who do not have their foods without a pickle. Do you have this habit of taking pickles alongwith your food?

hi, I do like to have pickles but it is not necessary with every meal i take. I don't like garlic at all (even in normal meals). I tried gooseberry pickle for the first time last week and wow it turned out so delicious. Also I made lemon but now the can is empty as everyone loved it. As it is the season here we get good lemons and gooseberry too. Also by Dec-jan we get red chillies (normally in Bihar & UP) they make pickle with red capsicum which also tastes good.

But they are processed foods in a good way, dont' you think? I mean a pickle is a "processed" cucumber which is a vegetable! But I love dill, only. Mt Olive pickels are my favorite. Those little snack ones...perfect bite of two. And the kids like them as they are tiny and fun to eat. I don't have to have one with a meal, but why not? Better than having a habit of bread with the meal!

hi, pickle or pickling is basically preserving certain foods in a salty / spicy solution. In India you can find varieties of pickles made with mango, lemon, gooseberry, mixed vegetables and so on and it goes very well with the Indian meals. happy Thanksgiving!

Pickles are actually pretty amazing, in that they contain no fat, cholestrol, carbs or calories. The only bad thing about them is the salt content. If they could somehow make a low salt pickle, it would be the perfect diet food!

I relished pickles especially with my school lunch. My Mom would always give me parantha (Indian bread) with vegetable and pickle. Mango pickle used to be my favorite. I must say my friend used to like it even more than I did. She used to ask me to get one pickle for her daily even when I was to bring beaten paddy (poha), bread rolls or anything. I don't eat pickles now considering my health issues, but I do miss it.

I love pickles. I am trying to figure out how to make good pickles the one that I bought in a market in Australia when I was there visiting. Our local dishes are mostly sourish and naturally I come to like pickles. I am looking for the right recipes for pickles online but have not found one.

With typical American food pickles are not that common. They are usually eaten with only special foods like hambuarger and hot dog.

A pickle, as it is, isn't actually processed food. It's a vegetable. Well, some argue it's a fruit. I think you're referring to like what you said, other fruits or vegetables that they pickled or usually sort of fermented in vinegar and sugar. Anyways, I like pickles on certain food like burgers. It's sort of sweet and sour taste adds that bit of a tang to my burger. And since it's a veggie, it's also good for us :)

Pickles I love them but I do not put them on the table each time only when I eat.
home we put cucumbers in jars and put them different spices and they become pickles.
I love them when I was pregnant I often eat them.
Have a nice day!
