A pleasant day dear fellow mylotters,
I was just thinking if you also have any routine in washing your clothes. Do you have a designated day in washing your clothes?
Just like here in our home, I cannot just use the washing machine although nobody uses it. Especially if the one who will gonna use that thing is my brother. As the world will turn upside down if somebody uses it during his scheduled days. As a result, I am always observing, if he will use it. And if not, then, that is the time I will gonna wash my clothes. Thus, I am suggesting to them to set a timetable for each so we cannot interrupt or hamper somebody's schedule but according to them, its not needed anymore. Hence, they keep on saying, anybody can use the washing machine if it is not in use. But, it is different from what is happening.

My husband bought me a washer and drier just about the same time that we moved into our new home, so it's a lot more easier for me to wash clothes now then it was before when we lived in an apartment complex. Still I find it helpful to keep to a set schedule for washing clothes so it doesn't pile up on me and become an overwhelming task. So I wash clothes every Monday and Friday.

It is really expensive for me to do my laundry at my apartment, so I usually try to visit my Mom at least once, if not twice, a month. Then I can do my laundry along with talk with my Mom. I can drive there, do my laundry, then drive back home for cheaper than it costs to do laundry at my apartment. Sometimes my schedule does not allow for me to get to my Mom's, so then I have to do laundry at my apartment. Thankfully that does not happen very often. So I do not have a set schedule to do my laundry, I just hope it can be at least once a month.

That means you are staying near your mom's residence. good.
In India we have very good sun shine for most part of the year. So we use semi automatic washing machines and then put the clothes for fully drying outside. We wash every day though we may not have sufficient clothes to cover washing machine. this comes out of practice. Clothes of all the people are polled together and washed at one stage.

I used a tine table for washing my clothes...In my home,All of us washes our own dresses...My father is thinking about buying a new one means Washing machine...
I think that washing machine reduces my hard work...So I like to use that....I will get a lot of free time by buying washing machine....I hope my father will surely bring that to me... :-)

I just wash them whenever, I have no set schedule, it's just whenever the washer isn't in use over here. We don't really hinder each other's clothes washing, as I don't wash but a few clothes at a time, I'm either at work or asleep, so not much to wash.

I think that it is very important to have a plan when washing your clothes, because if you miss the washing for a couple of days your clothes can soon build up and this will mean that you will be stressed when you're trying to catch up with it all again. I only do my own washing, and I put a load on every Monday and every Thursday. I will do that in the morning and then, by the evening, they are all dry and ready for me to iron and put away again. I like to keep to this schedule, as it means that I am able to keep on track with all of the other things that I need to do as well as my washing.

The washing machine consumes a lot of electricity if each one of you would use it one by one.
US , in the house, we have a laundrywoman who comes every Saturday to wash all our clothes and she uses the washing machine. In half day, she's done. At least that way, we get to scrimp on our electricity.
and so with the ironing of our clothes. It's being done by the ironing lady after all the washed clothes have dried. That way, we also scrimp on electricity.

I do the laundry thrice a week. Most of the times, it's from Wednesday to Friday. I have a big washing machine and I washed according to colors. I would start with the white ones on Wednesdays, then colored on Thursdays then on Fridays or sometimes Saturdays, I would do the bigger laundries like blankets, curtains. But there are times that it isn't the case. But as much as possible I stick to that schedule because that way I save on time, electricity and water consumption. I don't know if this applies to all. But when my kids were still younger and smaller, I used to do the laundry almost daily.

It depends on whether you are living in a complex and are using washing machines provided common.
If you are having a machine of your own then as you say it is better to chalk out a time table and go by it. If for some reason that person could not use on the day allotted he can use it after the nominated person uses it.

Actually I have.
I do the laundry at Sunday after my kids had swimming class and also on Tuesday or Wednesday since my son has an other swimming class with his school on this day.
Before I tried to do it every day but this only takes me more time and it's not necessary either. This works fine with me.
Only if I am away for longer (weeks) I leave a scedule behind, when to do the laundry, which temp etc.

well i guess the washing not only depends on schedule but also on the load of your clothes i mean it can just happen that you and your brother have alot to wash on the same day not just on anyother day that no one is actually using the washing machine so i guess, one can just step down and let the other wash first and the other can follow.so sometimes its true that time schedule wont work bec everyone desperately just needs to get their clothes washing and its just a metter of cooperation.

I'm so glad I don't have to share a washing machine... because I wash clothes every single day as part of my routine. I do my own laundry and that of both my daughters too - so if I don't keep on top of it, it really piles up and ends up being a much bigger job than it needs to be.
I think you're smart to set up an actual schedule for a shared machine... and I would also go a step further and ask that, if anyone decides not to use the machine on their scheduled day, that they cross their name off the timetable so that someone else could claim that time if they wanted to... sometimes we have additional laundry we want to do (bed linens, curtains, etc.) that are not part of our regular clothing load and the extra time for the machine could be beneficial for that :)

That's a must - to set schedule when you are not alone using the washing machine.
For me, thu, I don't have anyone to share my washing machine, i still set day for my washing.
It's usually occurs on weekends so, every kids uniform will be washed.
I don't like washing clothes in a rush because they run out of uniforms.
So, i want to wash everything in one scheduled time.

hi:)
better if they set a schedule so you'll know which turn is that day, you can't just wait for them to to know your turn. or just tell them that if ever every saturday morning is your laundry day or whatever day you prefer.

I used to live in a shared house and I was washing my clothes late in the night when noone needed the washing machine and the dryer. Now that I have my own washing machine I can do my laundry whenever I like. :)
However, I don't have a dryer yet so only the bad weather can be a reason for not doing my washing!

We also have a washing machine (me and my boyfriend, we live together in an apartment - just the two of us). It's kinda old (the person we are renting the apartment from brought it to us and as we needed one badly, we said it's better to have an old one than not have any at all), but it does its job quite nicely. We don't have any washing schedule at all, it happens that sometimes once every couple of days dirty cloths pile up and it also happens that I don't need to do any washing for 4-5 days.. so it's only based on how many things we have to wash and when we need them clean :)
