Touch phones and phones that have keypads are now on a uncanny duel, while touch phones are an aesthetic and an all in one type of a gadget now a days it still lacks the capability to let you type without looking at like most texters do. But the cellphones with keypads for some are butt ugly because of the keys and they prefer a sleek and more classy wide screen. Sooo what to do. For me I'd get an I phone 4 and a korean made clam phone that has a weird name yet stylish black and silver with blue colored lit background for the keypad. And it's also touchscreen on the front so i have the best of both worlds. anyway it's wishfull thinking and I will only be able to afford those 2 mid next year.
How about you? what say you?

Yup if you jump from a keypad phone to a touchscreen phone then you find it quite slower to type on touch screen phone. As you mentioned yes you can't type on a touchscreen without looking at it. But a touchscreen phone provides you more usable screen area. If you like to text more then you can buy a qwerty keyboard phone. Also some softwares like swype are available to speed up the typing on touchscreen phones.

Touch screen phones are the "in" thing these days, as all the latest advances in software and operating systems are mostly for the touch screen sector. For example, currently the most popular operating system according to me is Android. All versions of Android are made for touch screen phones only. Yes, there may be phones which are a hybrid mix between touch and type, like the XPeria mini Pro, but essentially, Android is for touch interface phones.
Again, touch screen phone user interface feels very natural to use, but at the same time, you cannot type without looking (a disadvantage while using the phone in a lecture lol)
So it depends on you what kind of usage you require with your phone. If you need both, touch and type, you can go for slider phones or clamshell phones.

My current phone used to have a touch screen. But the touch screen was damaged when i accidentally slipped and had my hand bumped it into the cement. I never had the touch screen repaired because i am not using it when i text and call, but its keypad. With the keypad, i can type without looking .
Now, i am planning to buy a new phone. But it seems that the craze today is the touch screen. As of now, i want a phone with a keypad and a touch screen at the same time again. However, a phone with a full touch screen mode has a wider screen and that's what i want.
Well, i will decide when i already have the money to buy it. Let's see, what i will ultimately buy.
