"Warnet" prospect
IN my town lately, I see, the prospect cafe has become quite unclear and no longer profitable
Many factors why for my mind, Internet cafe (warnet) business did not produce much profit anymore
Before many competitors, business cafe of course very tempting
But not like that anymore
here are the factors in my opinion
1. many "warnet" (internet cafe)in closely area..they can "kill" each other and "steal" each other the customers..
2 many modems is offered by many telecommunication providers with a cheaper price and the customer can connect internet in their home..it can make the customers more rilex with that modems..
3.many customers are boring with internet..Yes, facebook are losing some potential user because boring..
what do you think about "warnet" prospect??

it still profitable here. even many people in my town doesn't know much about cyber world. well, about your opinion, that true. me and my boss always counter all the problem with good way, make a better service, always use new innovation, and introduce new game or new site.

in a few week, our income decrease, cause behind us create cyber cafe too. so, my boss use new improvitation: add hotspot and offering it to everyone house in these place. our income back to norma again.
our profit in a day is: $22, or abou 200.000 IDR. my boss have a plan to create new cyber cafe again in a different place.

In certain areas in Yogyakarta, the warnet is still very profitable. Indeed there are several warnet that close, but mostly because, warnet located in a less strategic. In Yogyakarta, there are many warnet, which have a nice profit. my younger brother warnet, also can produce a satisfactory profit.

maybe iam curiosity about the strategy and tactics from your brother..how come??
is it not realistic to my city now..
many of warnet become bangkrupt and sold to another people (the furniture of the warnet)..
because many people who only want to connect, can buy modem only...

Yes not everyone can buy laptop or PC and also not every one can pay monthly bill for internet. If you are using volume based connection, your bill will be very high. And on the other hand many provider make FAKE UNLIMITED. It is said to be unlimited but has FAIR USAGE POLICY. 2 Gigs FUP is only suit for cell phone browsing. If you connect that to PC it will last in only less than 5 days.
Enthusiast like me need more than 6 Gigs/month. And online gaming need more. So warnet will have more prospect if you transform part of it into online gaming center.

Hi adhyz: That's an interesting subject. You have mentioned some really important reasons why internet cafes are not that profitable like they were some years ago. However chosing a good place to start your business and also offering some extra services can help an internet cafe to survive and even if there are some different alternatives, people need to use the internet outside sometimes to work so they can't work on their cellphones either.

yes, i want to respond about your good discussion adhy..
1. you forget something..with many cellphones with feature facebook and twitter application in facebook, take some customers of "warnet"...and now Tablet PC had come and make many of us enjoy for surfing..so good bye for "warnet"..
2. what about coffee shop with wifi..it`s good place for spending the time with a friend and with a cup of coffee..what about "warnet " offer?? only internet and it make boring some of us

yes, with many competitors like that, the warnet administration should manage their own business with many variation..they must give the best service, they must install some good games in the PC so many users can use the laptop not only for surfing internet but they can play some game...

adhyz-- I will respond based on conditions here in India. Yes. internet cafe business is no longer profitable -- reason -- internet is provided on cell phones also besides broadband is available at cheaper price.
Presence of two or more internet cafes in one place may not affect business but will bring more people to that place. Along with internet - you can provide xerox, DTP, spiral binding services.

rural areas -- possible profit is there because people may not have internet in their houses. Even then it depends on the number of people living in that village and whether there are any college or colony is nearby.

ravisivan, sometimes without a good internet connection who can be accessed in every home , it`s chance for you for make cafe internet business
but i believe in rural areas, internet need is not first priority for the people..so it`s hard for atrract some customers i think

Warnet prospect in the future is good. So do not stop your jon my friend. But you must give the consument good tool. Goog luck.
