I just saw the new movie of The Thing honestly after watching the first 15minutes i already knew what was going to happen. The old one is way better seriously people what happened to horror movies? Or they show lots of teenagers having "extracurricular activities" or a totally predictable script.

It took you 15 minutes to know whats going to happen? I knew the ending even before the prequel was shown. Most of them will gonna die and only two survivors will be chasing the dog imitation to Outpost 31. :)

I used to see all kinds of movies before including horror movies. Darcula was one of my favorites. But, these days, I prefer relaxing watching comedies and musicals. Horror movies get so confusing and frustrating.

I kind of agree with you- I haven't really seen a horror movie that was so scary and unpredictable. Maybe the writers ran out of ideas since people have been making horror films for almost a century... they should just do remakes but make it a bit different and scarer with all the cgi effects we have now, they should make a believable horror film.

what I think of horror movies. Oh do not love them when I watch these movies and then dream about them, so I prefer not to see them. I have no such films because very young children watch TV without the supervision of their parents. nice day!

I watched 'The Thing' as well, and if i had been watching it on DVD other than the big screen, I would have probably dozed off on the couch or lost interest very fast, but since i had taken the time to go and watch it, i forced myself to watch until the ending. Like you said, it didnt take long for one to know what was going to happen in the long run, utterly predictable....dont even know why they even bothered to do a remake, considering the original was still undoubtedly better, waste of people's time, quite frankly. Horror movies dont 'horrify' anymore, alot is lost due to the over application of effects. Instead of the emphasis being on the script, they concentrate too much on the visual effects, hoping that they will make up for a poorly written script...doesent quite go that way. A movie's lifeline is crucially determined by a well written script, and how well the actors can bring this script to life. Sure, the visual effects play a role, but they should be in subtle amounts. Unfortunately, this creates a lazy hollywood, if i could call it that...movies, in general, in any genre, have lost the basic elements that are needed to make a great picture. But not all is lost. I believe there are still some good movies out there that surpass the norm, most of which i have watched, so keep watching my friend!

I like watching old horror movies like Dario Argento's and those from Stephen King's books. Horror movies nowadays are mostly splatter and silly. No tension, no thriller, just monsters and blood... that's not that scary at all.
