Firefox bookmarks are gone- all of a sudden

The bookmarks list is empty. please help. i opened my firefox and all my bookmarks were gone! it was working the night before! can you help me to fix that? i would be grateful.

Go to Run. You can either go to start menu or just type Windows + R to bring the run Dialog.
Type "%appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles" in the run dialog box and press enter. Now open a folder named ****.default wher **** are any random characters. Don't be overwhelmed by this, its a simple thing. Now open "bookmarkbackups" folder and you'll get your bookmarks. now just simply import them in your firefox and your bookmarks will be as it was.
