The problem with taking the prophecies of the end time in the Bible literally is that so much symbolism is included that no one really knows what it means. There are some things that would make no sense whatsoever. The moon turning to blood? That's hard to believe, but to say that the moon turns to a blood color is easier for us to understand. Which is right? We don't know.
The Bible states that "heaven and earth shall pass away" (Matthew 24:35 for one) and another says mentions a "new heaven and a new earth" (Revelation 21:1). Does that mean the "earth" will totally disintegrate or disappear? Be burned up or reformed? We don't know.
I do believe that we are in the last days and will soon find out just what it's all about.
